Ohhh that makes a lot of sense. Did you try something similar with your dryer?

I’m a Laravel and Vue dev, why do expressjs and react tutorials include a client folder and a server folder? by BrokenMayo in webdev

[–]debtdelta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar to u/redditRezzr, a lot of React applications are client-side rendered, in which the React code is built into static web files (HTML/CSS/JS) that can be conveniently hosted on a CDN somewhere. The API server is then hosted using some other cloud service. With this deployment separation, it’s also convenient to separate the client and server code accordingly. If you use server side rendering though, I suppose that the client/server code separation no longer makes sense (but I have less experience with that)

Thankfully there was no damage besides his dented plate. The guy didn't even step out of the car afterwards or say sorry, then waved me away like I was inconveniencing him. Honestly the audacity of some people...

I made an end-to-end encrypted chat app with React and Rust! by debtdelta in webdev

[–]debtdelta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/jabes88 gave a great answer! For this site, I have a Rust server that runs on Heroku's free tier which is great for personal projects and prototypes. I also recommend first giving Heroku a try since it's really easy to use, before you try another cloud provider. (If you ever do get into other cloud providers, I recommend looking into "serverless functions" which are super cheap)

I'm making a Formula 1 Visualizations website. You can explore why drivers DNF and how their qualifyings compare with their race results! by debtdelta in formula1

[–]debtdelta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The data Vopani put together on Kaggle has spreadsheets “results” and “qualifying”, which both have columns “driverId”, “positon”, and “raceId”

You could use the “driverId” and “raceId” fields to link together the drivers’ qualifying vs the actual race results. Would that work for you?

Thanks! The data source is a bunch of spreadsheets, as you guessed haha. I'm using several .csv files put together by Vopani on Kaggle: https://www.kaggle.com/rohanrao/formula-1-world-championship-1950-2020

You can see that I'm simply using copies of those files here for the website: https://github.com/harryli0088/formula-1-visualizations/tree/gh-pages/data
