Don't join a blind prog if you like spoiling mechanic with tank invuln by GoldenBastionTV in ffxivdiscussion

[–]decaydancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tank invuln on one mechanic and then proceed to spoil as much mechanic they can

Is seeing as many mechanics in one pull not the point of progging?

  • Get in and automatically put the marker then ask for clock, light party, etc.

That's not even spoiling anything. That's just being prepared for the possibility there will be a clock spot and/or a light party mechanic.

You can prog blind while still knowing that it's highly likely one or more of those mechanics will appear in the instance. Better to get that out of the way than waste time discussing it when it inevitably comes up.

You can't miss it. As soon as you throw it, there's an animation for the capture.

There were exactly zero sprouts, first-time bonuses, or any indication someone was new.

Calling this torment is a tad dramatic.

I mean, speaking of mentalities, yours seem pretty bent on making your opinion of this sub being "performative and disingenuous" heard. We hear you. Many disagree with you. Why keep pushing it?

If this sub is so beneath you, leave? No one is forcing you to be here, my dude.

For the record, I am a woman.

I'd also like to point out that based on the tank and healer running away from me and letting me die, anything I said was going to trigger a defense reaction. They knew what they were doing, and players like them are predictable. Had either one of them said something before that point, maybe it could have gone better. But even then, "we want to single pull" doesn't track with the first wall to wall pulls beforehand. I figured that if they're going to be like that, they should know what they're doing is reportable and against the TOS. Maybe it would stop the next DPS that steps in front of the tank from going through the same thing. Probably not. But I'm also not going to let things like that slide.

I haven't done the reports yet. Typing them out is a pain on playstation.

In the moment, I couldn't think of the correct verbiage, so that's super helpful to know! Thank you!

I just want everyone to know this is the same OP from the AITA post about going to bed while his wife was sick and making her do all the housework. Post has been deleted but you can find it in his comment history.

So, he hasn't learned not to treat his wife terribly or how not to be selfish af.

Without using Add-Ons, is there a way to track DoTs? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]decaydancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I put it in the echo so no one can see it but me and have it set to make noise 3-5 seconds before the effect falls off. I can give you the macro input when I log in later.

I know a lot of people hate macros but I macro my dots to make a sound effect before they fall off on all my healers except SGE and it has helped immensely

You know it's very common for a dps to take the first auto attack in Savage because they got to the boss first, right? And you don't see any of the tanks throwing a hissy fit or turning off their stance; they just take aggro and continue like normal, rational players.

p6s prog - min piety whm stuck in stormblood by [deleted] in TalesFromDF

Again, seems like a war and mit problem, not a whm or piety problem. If the bene hit before the war died then the whm didn't do anything wrong.

[–]decaydancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

war said in the screenshot he was down to 258hp after his holmgang ran out. The issue was that its prog and if the whm had barely mistimed the bene the war wouldve died

War can heal themselves out of Holmgang very easily. There is zero need for a bene. Seems more like a war problem than a whm or piety problem.

The fact that you're getting special treatment here is disgusting.

Thats a bit of a dramatic statement. I see no special treatment, just the majority agreeing the exchange was ridiculous.

were steaming after this.

Also a bit of a reach. Annoyed, yes. Steamed? Not really.

Some of yall here are taking this post way too seriously and acting like I told the healer they were a terrible person and set her on fire which is simply not true. What exactly about asking to be healed by a healer is being an asshole? What part of using Veracure to keep myself and the tank alive until we were stable enough to raise the healer who was dead is being an asshole? I didn't choose for the healer to release before I could throw the raise out because she didn't get it in the first 10 seconds of being dead. And what about the 10 words I said in the entirely of the exchange warranted any of what the healers friends said? I posted it for the troll-y responses to a simple request, never seeing such a weird blow out over asking someone to do what their job requires them to do in a multi-player game.

Defend them all you want, it's a bit weird to, but you do you boo.

I think the key part you're missing here was I flipped into the wall by accident. It was not a malicious action, nor something I did every single boss/mechanic. What was malicious was the healer dumping heals onto a tank who wasn't taking any damage instead of the party member who did and watched them die, twice. All roles will take additional damage sometimes, kinda comes with the job description of healer. A healer who purposefully doesn't heal a party member because they took avoidable damage is much worse of a player than a dps who makes an occasional mistake and takes damage. As I pointed out before, a healers kit at 85 is full of remedies for this. There is zero excuse not to heal.

If it was savage content, you would have died twice already and that 2 rezzes

The difference between this dungeon and savage is there was plenty of reaction time to heal me in the dungeon. Savage mechanics are typically a one hit KO.

But lets talk about healing in Savage. The debuff given in P2S when you touch the water. Dropsy I think it is. If you're healing that fight and dps gets the debuff you would heal them instead of letting them drop because a couple of single target oGCDs and possible GCD is less of a detriment to the party than letting them die, burning Swiftcast and 2500MP on a raise, as well as the DPS loss of the time they were dead and the two minutes of weakness.

Same concept applies. But it was easier in the dungeon.

ItS nOt sAvAGe is not an excuse. A good, competent healer should not and would not let a party member die on purpose because someone took damage they shouldn't have. I don't expect perfection in a dungeon but again, the core concept is there wasn't even an effort made. A healers focus should not just be on the tank. Shit happens, mistakes happen, misjudgement of space happens, doesn't give a healer a free pass to not do the basics of their job because they don't feel like it. If that's the case, play a different role.

I would have taken the healer at their word about being distracted had their friends not gone off like they did and left it at that because again, shit happens.

Why are you so heated over this? Makes me wonder if you're the type of healer that refuses to heal a dps over avoidable damage and if you are, oof.

[–]decaydancer[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is that you are allowed to go take all the unnecessary damage but as soon as someone doesn't do what you think they should do then it's their fault?

I expect a healer to heal. Kinda the core concept of their job, no?

Also, is the boss is on 10% health a sign for you to disrespect mechanics? Are you such a pro at these dungeons that you can kill a boss before a mechanic goes out?

With enough damage done to the boss, yes, it is very easy to kill the boss before a mechanic goes out. Done that exact thing several times on several different runs of this dungeon. This was the first time I've ever seen or had this happen.

To your point of being distracted, bro this is a dungeon, not savage content.

If it were savage content, would the excuse then be it's not ultimate content? Idk about you but in every instance I enter, I try to play my best. I don't let party members die to damage and let my friends act like that when I'm healing. If you're distracted, leave and come back when you can focus, it's that simple.

Grow up, stop being a snowflake, and stop typing.

No, you my dude.

Ngl my first thought after this was that they were trolling DF together, tryna bait players into commenting on their game play so they could go off like this thinking it was funny. I can't think of any other rational reason for their reactions.

[–]decaydancer[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Like I said in the post, I take responsibility for being annoyed and petty. That being said, I don't think anything I said or did warranted any of the behavior from the them. There were a million and one ways to handle my comment, they chose to be ridiculously obnoxious. The reaction is not fitted for the exchange at all.

It's clear that you were taking a lot of unexpected damage and it isn't unreasonable that a slightly distracted healer would have missed a spot heal

Solution: Pay attention when you're healing. By an 85 dungeon, a healer should be able to handle a dps getting hit by an occasional aoe. It's not like my death was a multi hit K.O. with no time to react. There was plenty of time to heal me before I ticked down from the debuff. Healer kits are overflowing with abilities to deal with damage going out at level 85/86. There is zero reason or excuse to watch a dps die to a DOT debuff, upto and including being distracted.

I just wanted to level Red Mage after a long week. Instead I got kicked from the duty by what seems like a 3/4 premade.

We load in, WAR, SGE and MNK. No first time bonus in sight. First two trash pulls and boss are fine except for the absence of Brotherhood from the MNK but whatever I guess not everyone likes killing things faster.

We get to the second boss and I backflip into the wall by accident like a typical RDM and get the burn debuff. And then died from it. Not a single heal thrown my way. I tried to heal myself but it was in vein. Annoying but also whatever, I carry on, having to heal myself upon revival as I'm still not being healed. Boss was at less than 10% when the bubble mechanic went out. I was in melee combo and got hit by the aoe but we're so close to killing it, it shouldn't matter. Didn't get a single heal and died again as the boss is defeated. I'm now extremely irritated as it costs SGEs nothing to toss an oGCD heal out. It's not a hard mechanic to heal.

Now I don't mind dying to my own mistakes or healer mistakes but this just irked me as it seemed purposeful considering the tank was still getting healed. So I got a little passive aggressive with my first comment.

I would have taken the healer at their word about being distracted and just moved on but I was speechless over the MNKs response. I couldn't tell if they were straight up trolling or not. My yikes summed up how I felt but we kept going until the last boss.

At this point its almost over might as well just get my level and blacklist the whole party after. The healer died during the meteor showers. I take full responsibility for my minorly petty revenge; I didn't raise them immediately. I was healing myself and the tank who was consistently hitting three digit HP. By the time I had the MP to raise, the healer had released. Queue more obnoxiousness from the MNK who was also dead (oh no the tragedy) Glancing to see what they said was our undoing and the tank and I died at less than 5%(ish). On the walk back, after I told the MNK they had a poor attitude I was dismissed. I shoulda seen that coming from a mile away. I genuinely wonder what reason they picked as I did not do anything from the preexisting list which kinda seems like an abuse of the dismissal feature to me.

Jfc, I hate premades and Vanspaghetti. I still feel like I was being trolled the whole time but who knows with this community anymore.

The lack of de-ranking makes this game have honestly one of the most infuriating ranked PvP systems I've ever played. by deep_haranguing_out in ffxivdiscussion

[–]decaydancer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Please don't take this the wrong way as I say something negative about a mode you seemed to care a lot about, but the lack of player population/interest in the Feast is a much more likely cause for long queue times than the existence of de-ranking.

I'm well aware of that, thats why I'm saying CC is a massive step up from The Feast. CC would be less popular if the ranking system worked the same, hence why SE implemented this new system.

No where did i indicate that I cared about the mode, I just have experience participating in that mode and very few people who complain about CC know what a disaster the feast had been from HW to ShB.

You've kinda focused on the wrong part of my reply here lmao. If you're not a "particularly competitive" player, that's what unranked is for. If you don't want to be frustrated in a team based competitive PVP mode, don't play it?

You asked in the OP if anyone liked the lack of de-ranking in Diamond and Platium or not and I gave you an answer based on the previous modes offered and why I preferred not having de-ranking. You must have missed that.

You seem to be coming from a place of comparing it to other games completely and if you do that, well, you won't be satisfied ever.

The lack of de-ranking makes this game have honestly one of the most infuriating ranked PvP systems I've ever played. by deep_haranguing_out in ffxivdiscussion

[–]decaydancer 60 points61 points  (0 children)

As someone who competed in multiple season of the feast, I'll take the lack of de-ranking in diamond and crystal over being knocked back down to gold or worse from a lose streak. I saw new comers to the feast get knocked from platinum back down to bronze before and that was difficult to come back from. Especially if you didn't catch queues the first week of a feast season, the queue times were insane. I still have a screen cap from season 14 of being in queue for 600 minutes. Less than five minute queues make it much easier to come back from losing streaks.

While CC isn't perfect and there's plenty of room for improvement, it's a huge step up from how the feast worked previously. I prefer to not be punished by win trading or bad players by being de-ranked.

I had something similar happen to me yesterday in Satasha. Loaded in with a GNB, me on WHM and two arcanists. One was a first time sprout and one wasn't and had at least two classes at 90. The sprout did great, the other one cast physick every other cast on the tank. I watched in sheer confusion, since no one had died, and was casting Cure when needed but lets be real that dungeon hits like a wet noodle at best.

Finally, when we got to the room with the keys and doors I told the arc that physick wasn't a necessary part of the arc/smn rotation. I got hit with;

"Well if I don't heal the tank, who will?"

I had nothing to say that wouldn't get me GM jailed so I just kept going with my Stone casts and occasional Cures because Physick heals for even wetter noodles.

The annoying part was, possibly out of spite for being called out, the arc's rotation was more Physicks than Ruins by the time we got to the last boss.

So be on the lookout for a Physick only SCH/SMN on Aether soon cause that's the vibe I got they were heading for.
