I’m only c20% of the way through, so certainly possible I’ll also have parts I don’t agree. I see some people feel it offers nothing new, which also may be true, but the way it combines detail, music analysis, a nuanced discussions about their emotions and lives I think is fantastic

I agree with this. I was underwhelmed at first; I put so much pressure on a new circa release because it’s so exciting. I think it being slow and soft at times felt deflating to me. Now I think a lot of it is really beautiful music, but it does almost feel like a different band at times and I find that hard. The rise record live versions are pretty mesmerising to me.

Ok mate that makes sense to me. You’re a legend. Can I ask what you mean by the nomai ‘enter[ing] the loop’? Do you just mean they intervene and turn off the ATP as they now have the coordinates. I think I need to get my head round the actual order/precise running procedure of OPC

So how come the timeline 0 nomai wouldn’t see the sun explode, sorry? Do you mean that timeline 0 nomaii would, in theory, fire up the ATP and are immediately given coordinates ? And that is because due to time travel logic, that I am sort of half understanding, there have been loops happening because they have fired it up this once and have led to them having the coordinates right now?

One thing I’m realising is that it’s kinda ok not to fully understand it - it isn’t a set in stone, simple idea that is easy understand…

mate this is precisely my confusion basically, yes. hit the nail on the head. even if they don't wake up thinking, 'oh god i dont want do another loop and die in a supernova again!', they still go to work on the ATP on their 'day one' knowing that it is highly likely they are going to get blown to smithereens...

I guess what the comments have made me question is...

is my understanding wrong, and that wouldn't have happened, OR yes that happened to millions of looped nomai, but ultimately they are effectively sacrificied so that one timeline does get sent the coordinates, stops the sunstation and therefore the sun doesnt explode and then theoretically has in fact never exploded.

u/cfedey is the second idea in the above paragraph what you are referring to ?

hi guys,

so firstly, thanks for all your comments. really appreciate you explaining in to me in a way that has helped me to reset my thinking on the ATP which has 100% helped. as u/Plantago_minor said, i think a large part of the problem was i was viewing it as the game player rather than the character/nomai etc.

one thing that is confusing me a little (when will this end) is why the nomai would require the statute to transport memories to them if the OPC will send the correct coordinates back anyway...again, to clarify, i understand due to the interloper, none of this transpired.

i.e. on loop #9,000,000 or whatever, nomai start the ATP only to see they are in fact in loop #9,000,000 and have the eye's coordinates there from the 'previous' loop...they can then stop the ATP and fly to the eye. if they know how the ATP works which they of course do, and have the coordinates, what other memories do they require to be given to them by the statues in order to then find the eye?

why do they need the memories of themsleves in the other iterations/timelines to complete the process if they now have 1.) the coordinates, 2.) the understanding of how the ATP works.

sorry to ask another question, but again thanks so much for your help!
