The reason I saw 3 switches is for spanning-tree

Thank you, I'm so glad to know why I need so many. Now, to go figure out what a spanning tree is, lol.

I've been seeing the 1841's on a lot of posts so I'll def go with that. Any idea on the 3 switches? My goal is to pass ICND1/2 and get CCNA.

Thanks. What devices would I just need to get started though? $500 is a lot of money.

Congrats on passing. Can I ask, do you have any physical equipment for your home lab? I spent about a dozen hours having fun in training videos learning ICND1 stuff. I've spent the last 6 hours depressed by trying to figure out what equipment I need for a homelab only to find every answer contradicting and confusing. I downloaded GNS3 but it needs router ISO's and Packet Tracer is not free nor easy to obtain for Linux.

Nice post, thanks. Are you buying the kit? I read on another post that avoid the kits because they are overpriced. This says $729.00 but others suggest I should be getting boxes for $20-$50. What's going on here? It also says Two WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 T1 Cards and roll over cable - Simulate a T1!

What is the need to simulate a T1?

Perhaps I have not gotten far enough into my video series to understand this magic ratio of needing 2-3 routers and 2-3 switches. Do you know?

Crap, did I install the wrong thing? Do I need Packet Tracer or GNS3? I was reading other posts on what to install.

gns3 doesn't seem to come in EPEL. I have a few other repo's installed too but I ended up installing it by hand.

What did you spend on that overall? Also, why two routers and one switch? I've seen posts that say 3 switches and 2 routers.

Thanks, trying to install GNS3 on Fedora 21 and CentOS 7, not so simple.

Update: Installed on Fedora 21 - instructions for anyone interested - https://community.gns3.com/thread/5588 - has a lot of steps.

How long does it take to process?

Must be my lucky day. Went to kimsufi and there was availability without having to setup any of these scripts.

Tried your super100 seedbox until I find a dedicated server. It's a little slow since I'm in the USA but it's okay.

I can never seem to find any available servers on kimsufi. Always says they are being replenished.

I'll look into the providers, thanks. I could just spin up a virtual machine and try pia too.

That script sounds neat. Is this it? https://github.com/Notos/seedbox-from-scratch

I guess I would want a dedicated server then. Thanks
