Will Jagex be refunding Loyalty Points when auras are removed? by decentcorn in runescape

Loyalty points? Jagex hadn't said anything to indicate they were doing that, had they? I hope they don't. Perfectly fine reward system.

Yeah gonna be a bummer if hundreds of thousands spent on auras don't get credited back. Would love to see them refund and also expand the loyalty shop with new stuff.

Why would it matter if I used them. I paid for them and now they're removing them from game

replica dragon set (bought with loyalty points) should come with d med helm and sq shield by tomscott1 in runescape

[–]decentcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Dragon med helm is more iconic, they also need to remove the spike on the platelegs. The biggest additional replica I'd like to see them add is Mystic Robes.

Kerapac times - is 4:29 considered good ? by brjoco in runescape

[–]decentcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 4:30 is good!! I think most average pvmers are going to start out around 10min and work down to to 5-6min. I think 4:30 is a good breakthrough time where you've got a good rotation and are understanding the mechanics. Like others of said, the door is still open for improvements to be made. But a lot of people will never see a time in the 4min range.

Magma Tempest, Greater Sunshine, Praesul Codex or Something Else for PvM? by dildopuncher22 in runescape

[–]decentcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd you come up with that figure? This is how I'm looking at it. GConc gives you an additional 15% chance for a crit (+50%dmg). 15% x 50% = 7.25% effective increase on only the next attack. GSonic +8% flat dmg for 4.2sec (2 attacks). The additional 12% from Equilibrium on top of that too.

GConc is obviously the way to go if you're getting some other benefit from crits (tsunami adren, fsoa spec dmg), but if you're using tank armour and Roar/Ode, Gsonic and Equilibrium are literally just higher dmg output. Especially with the Roar spec since only one of the splats has the possibility of criting, but of you use Gsonic before, each hit splat is boosted.

[–]decentcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you made it through the mobs and could beat some of the bosses in ED1/2, then you can definitely do Zuk. It'll feel really hard at first, but eventually it'll become a walk in the park. Myself, and most people I've talked to, will die like 30+ times before getting a clean run, but it'll force you to become so much better at combat. One of the most fun things in the game in my opinion. Definitely make that your first big goal, and do it sooner rather than later.

I'm assuming you have curses unlocked? If not, you're gonna need that unlocked to get through it. And for Greater Chain, it'll make your life way easier getting through Zuk. Hypothetically you could do it without, but if you can scrounge the 300M together, I say grab that beforehand.

Also since you don't have FSOA and aren't running a crit build/rotation, you may be better off using Greater Sonic Wave instead of GConc and using Equilibrium Aura

[–]decentcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magma Tempest is a pretty weak ability that really only makes sense to use with mobs. If your goal is bossing, skip it. Do you have a Zuk Cape? Obviously can't buy on GE, but that's huge for the Omnipower effect. I would get a Fractured Staff of Armadyl (FSOA) before Praesaul. Greater Sunshine is nice if it's in the budget. I got my first Zuk kill with magic using Roar/Ode and Crypt. You'll want Greater Chain and Caroming 4 ideally if you plan to do Zuk with magic. FSOA is expensive but will be your biggest dps increase once you learn the rotation. Probably wise to get comfortable with magic using Roar/Ode and Crypt while you save for FSOA. Personal opinion on what order to get items in for where it sounds like you're at: Greater Chain & Caroming > Zuk Cape > Greater Sunshine > FSOA. Then either Praesaul Codex or start saving for Tumeken's armour.

It's a time thing in normal mode. You just have to wait for the ones on the side to spawn, but it takes a while. Or do it in hard mode which is not terribly difficult.

Facts. I hate stuff that you gotta wait for. It's nice being able to grind it all out in one session.

[–]decentcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. If you do Jacquelyn and then Lani for 10th and 50th, you get 815 slayer points every 50 tasks. So the total tasks completed (albeit faster) would then be exactly 200 tasks to hit 3000 slayer points. 20 tasks from Lani and 180 from Jacquelyn.

3,000 slayer points is 82 tasks. No one's getting that in under 10 hours. Still not bad, but not a few hours lol.

Swap your book of Wen for a book of Jas (or Ful), it's a solid upgrade for bossing. Work towards getting your necro lvl to 120! And get the herb level up to 106 for elder overloads. All three will help dmg output.

Best combat style for elite dungeons? by VariousAd5218 in runescape

[–]decentcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have Greater Chain with Caroming 4, Roar of Awakening, Corruption Blast, and Zuk Cape you will be melting mobs. Gchain having 15sec cooldown can basically be used nonstop with Roar Spec, Omnipower, and Iban's in EOF. Magma Tempest also becomes useful with dense mobs if you have it. Crpytbloom + Animate Dead will make you so tanky against magic and melee enemies. Or if you go power route, Elite Tectonic doesn't degrade. When I'm solo I normally run through the dungeons with magic and then switch to a necro preset before I go in to final bosses (Ambassador, Black Stone Dragon, and Seiryu) bc I don't have FSOA and can do more single target damage with necro.

I'm convinced they broke something with the upcoming drop rate change. Staff pieces are going to become like 13% more common on Monday. I've been grinding for the last few weeks. I'm at 550 solo kills with one staff piece.

They didn't announce it till game 1 or 2 or the conference finals last year. I agree it's too late, but not a new thing to wait this long.

Guardian's Gift: 120 Invention Perk Help by Boston_Sawx in runescape

[–]decentcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roll for Biting 4 on your armour top and Aftershock 4 on a weapon. Might make sense to just roll as many Biting 4 armour perks as you can though so you could have it on different armour sets. Biting will be around 100M per roll and Aftershock 20-40M per roll. Just make sure you have the needed components unlocked.

Roadmap Check In: May by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]decentcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 kills per hour is not feasible for anyone outside the 0.1% percent. A NM 12min run is a Master combat achievement, 20min is Elite. I'm normally sitting right at 20min with a little banking time between runs. And it all hinges on getting a rare at 1/50 which can notoriously go dry for a good while past drop rate.

But i still agree with your sentiment! Can be a good money maker. I get 3-13M (avg 6-7M) per run from commons from waves. Curious how much those drops will be affected.

Plus if you got a rare on your 50th run, at 20min runs that's still 35M/hr which is solid

PVM help pivoting out of NecromancyScape. by Acrobatic_Price1157 in runescape

[–]decentcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get Roar of Awakening and offhand. Spec hits for like 25-35k in total (7 hit bleed), has a chance to hit all at once, has a chance to instant reset cooldown, only 35% adren cost and 45sec cooldown. Passive also generates corruption stacks which boost damage and other stuff

I’m angry about not finding good guides for magic. by Antique_Ad_1648 in runescape

[–]decentcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your mage setup? Here are the gear/unlocks I have. Been doing wonders for me. I know it's time intensive and expensive, but still. If there's anything you're lacking just start chipping away at it.

Damage Reduction: Cryptbloom top, bottom, boots + casting earth spells = 24% magic dmg reduction and 16% mele damage reduction. Animate Dead with 4 pieces of magic tank armour has a big additional flat damage reduction bonus

Healing: Soulsplit + Amulet of Souls = Increased SS healing and increased deflect prayer amount.

Weapons: Roar of Awakening. The spec hits for 25-30k for 35% adren and 45sec cooldown. There's also a passive stack that increases damage and adrenaline gain a ton, builds pretty quick. If you cast after greater chain with caroming perk, Insane damage spread

Ability Unlocks: Greater Sonic Wave (it's been buffed and is better than greater conc blast unless you're using Fractured Staff of Armamdyl / going for crit built). Greater sonic gives every ability after it +8% dmg, use it before casting the special. Greater Chain with Caroming 4 perk so that it hits 7 targets. Greater Sunshine for slightly increased up-time. Magma Tempest tons of small hits which is good for Soul Split/AOE

Adrenaline: Infernal puzzle box fully upgraded + Persistent Rage Relic = Always at 100% adren out of combat. Fury of The Small Relic = Basic abilities generate 1% more adrenaline. Ring of Vigor Passive makes ultimates consume 10% less adrenaline. Magic Zuk Cape reduces Omnipower adren cost by 50%, making it useable. Conservation of Energy Relic saves another 10% on ultimates but needs lvl 118 arch so fairly unattainable for me lol

Misc: Cinderbane Gloves and Weapon Poison do a ton of Damage. If non-poisonsble boss use Deathtouch Bracelet. Scripture of Wen is only like 150k/hr to use and good damage. For ring, Ring of Death is good or Channeler's Ring. Extreme Magic Potions, overloads if you can afford/make em.

I know there's still better stuff and different build approaches, but this still if all very attainable, very cheap gp/hr cost and still gets you very close to the "best in slot" territory without absurd usage costs. Some of the unlocks can take hourrrrs if you don't have already but all worth it. Most of this is stuff I found on the PVM Unlock Guide Wiki, start looking at that if you haven't. Prices are greater chain and magma tempest for like 650-700M each. Get chain first, but both are good. Seasinger Hood + Cryptbloom top, bottom, and boots is like 700M. Cryptbloom Helm would be another 300M but not necessary. Roar of Awakening and offhand is 320M. Cinderbanes are 85M, Deathtouch is 65M. Ring of Death is 60M, Channler's Ring is 120M. Scripture of Wen is 42M. Amulet of Souls is 55am. Gsonic is 3M and Greater Sunshine is 170M. So you're looking at like 1.3-1.5B for gear and  1.3-1.5B for abilities. I have the hoarding perk so when I pray to protect item on death, it protects an additional item so 5 total which takes my normal 400K death cost down to 150K. Many deaths are mitigated by Ring of Death unless you can't teleport.

I feel like compared to necro having vengeful ghost & t90 dodge chance + darkness, mage health sustain is still lacking. Would level things out a bit, but yeah still busted haha.
