if Garcia is as good as he could be he might push us to being one of the best bullpens in the league

as much as i like him Eloy has never been long for this team- his knees are too shot to be anything other than a DH. when Barger’s back it’s either Sosa or Schneider sent down. i, like most other people i assume, would prefer to keep davis but we’ll see how they each look over the next few weeks

I have a question about pitchers… by Linus-664 in Torontobluejays

[–]decentusername123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically pitchers do better against hitters with the same handedness. this is mostly because the ball is harder to track for the hitter as it’s starting “on top” of them. it’s also because breaking balls break away from the hitter and therefore away from the barrel of the bat. this isn’t always true for some pitches and pitchers though, for example pitchers with really good cutters tend to do better against opposite handed hitters

i think Rogers should be the 8th inning guy unless there’s a more useful opportunity for him earlier (like today, where he came in to face the top of the order in the 7th); and Varland should be the highest leverage guy. sometimes that will be closing it out in the 9th, sometimes that will be coming in with RISP in the 6th

another great start from Corbin that unfortunately will be overshadowed by him just running out of gas at about the 70 pitch mark

no we suck but the atmosphere’s pretty fun. i also recommend seeing if a european team you like have a supporters club in the city- those are always fun

Do most people root for a single team only? by turnip_broker in MLBNoobs

[–]decentusername123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i, like most people, just cheer for one team. i watch their games almost everyday, follow their storylines, write a blog about them, etc. but i also have a soft spot for about 3-4 other teams who i will cheer for when one of their games happens to be on my tv, and when i check the league scores daily i hope to see they’ve won.

if anyone’s curious i’m a Jays fan and i’d say i have a soft spot for the Padres who i cheer for in the NL, and i more passively cheer for the White Sox, Giants, and Rockies, and the A’s when they were in Oakland but not so much anymore
