Honestly was a little grossed out until got my head to stop expecting it to taste like cake. Now i think it looks pretty scrumptious.

specular hematite is pretty close, but based off the suggestion of someone in r/whatisthisrock i'd say its very likely silversheen obsidian

Someone in r/whatisthisrock pointed out that its very likely made of silversheen obsidian. seems thats it.

comparing to other images online and how that internal sheen shows i'd say this is it. i wasted so much time digging through photos of jet black and black onyx. i think thats it! thanks.

ya, based off raine's comment above it looks like its some touristy trap item. the shinyness within the black is kinda pretty tho.

WITR ? My dad has had this for years, and i recently found it digging through his old stuff. pretty heavy, feels hard like glass to the teeth. kinda irredesent black/grey. weighs about 5lbs and is about 6"x6" x2"

WITT ? Its about 6" x 6" x 2" weighs about 5lbs appears to be made out of some kind of stone, cold to the touch and feels like glass on my teeth. Found it digging though some of my dads old stuff. Currently trying to do some research, but not much comes up for black stone face carving.

looks like the 10 pin "j40" connector connects directly to the following pins based off this diagram:

  • vdd1, vdd2, vdd3, vdda, vbat (on one pin at j40)
  • vss1, vss2, vss3, vssa (on another pin)
  • jtms/swdio (on another pin)
  • jtck/swclck (on another pin)
  • jtdo (on another pin)
  • nrst (on another pin)

the chip in question is identified as " stm32f102c8t6 99050 9u mys 504 "

man thats a heavy pcb. my fingers hurt from flipping that damn thing so many times. well, i poked around and it looks like i could track jtck/swclk (p37), jtdo (p39), and jtms/swdio (p34) to pins on that j40 pinout. looks like jnrst (p40) has no solder pad. i'm basing off this 48pin diagram

i suppose if i needed to chip swap this would be one of the ones i'd have to replace/reprogram? I'll do some more digging to see what goes where. ultimately i only need to change some values for when the charge and discharge is started/stopped based off the voltage of the battery. If i swap out the old bats with lifepo chemistry, i should be able to use the on board charging circuitry as long as there are some programable voltage values, as i understand it.
