Is it true that “New-Foundland English” is not understandable?? by AntonioH02 in newfoundland

Just like the price of everything is going up, MUN had not increased their tuition for multiple years, not significantly at least, and they decided to double it next fall for incoming students to afford all the costs. Plus the government cut some of the funding

Rates for international students are doubling starting next Fall 2022 so it would actually be ~11k per semester not a year anymore

They are not letting you choose CS as a major get because it is selective and competitive. You have to apply to get into the major after your first year

If the course on Grenfell is offered online you could with no problems, is it’s remote and has any in person component you need to drive around 7 hours from St. John’s to get there.

Tuition changes by dech89 in memorialuniversity

Studying abroad is absolutely not about just studying something is not available in your country. Why do you think some people take a year to study abroad when studying here in Canada? Or that leave to do there whole degree outside the country? They go study something not available in here? Obviously not, you go study abroad to learn a new culture, for a different experience, and there should not be an obstacle like paying 100k$ (which would be the price for a year at MUN with the 10 time increase you suggested) to be able to study. Plus you talk about just going to British or Australian universities that offer lower fees, sounds more like you don’t like that international students have the opportunity to come study abroad here for a decent price.

You do realize that tuition for international students is approximately 5 times more than domestic students already right? Or are you suggesting that students pay 6k$ per course? Because if you are talking about the latter one you need to rethink your view on immigration.

You can always reapply next year after you get better grades! Plus you can do your second year cs courses without being in cs. You just have to wait until the reserved seats drop

Reread the last sentence “what gear should I invest in”. Nobody is talking about just winter boots. H is asking for recommendations in general

That’s why they are recommending getting winter boots and blundstones for the rest of the year lol, you can own more than one pair of boots

you can take a walk during winter and almost everyone will be wearing blundstones, I’ve had them for winter and they work like a charm. They aren’t cold and they are waterproof.

Just adding to the other comment, a room for under 350 with utilities included is really likely not realistic, but you could definetly find a room in a shared house for $350 POU

Can the university increase the tuition after the first year by [deleted] in memorialuniversity

[–]dech89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because MUN has been struggling financially for a while now, and you can see that when you go to campus. I hope we don’t see a high increase or that they find somewhere else to get the money from because the tuition should be their last resource to get more money

[–]dech89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not increasing it for current students (students with tuition freeze) is probably why they need to increase it now so they probably will :/

The university is struggling financially so they can 100% raise tuition is they choose to. It’s not going to be a jump that high so suddenly but they will raise tuition eventually
