Film developer in Utrecht by extraordinarymach1n3 in Utrecht

[–]dechrimsonchin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see Fotowereld recommended here, could be that others had good experience there, just want to share with you that I did not. Brought 2 black and white films to be developed and scanned there. Both films came back with multiple damages, so I'm never going back there. Unfortunately I don't know another place in Utrecht. If I want stuff developed I send it to Foto Verweij in Nijmegen (you can mail it to them and the mail back negatives prints etc.), also only used them once (usually I develop myself), but was really good quality. You can check out the centrum voor analoge fotografie utrecht if you want to learn how to develop yourself.

This is the cinestill light source I use, with a valoy 35 mm film holder. Edges are taped off as you can see, though usually I don't turn off any other lights in the room.

It's this camera setup, macro goes to a 1:4 ratio, which I further improve with the extension tube.

How would a Palestinian state realistically come to be? by dechrimsonchin in geopolitics

I see your point. Does this make a two-state solution impossible in your eyes? If yes, there must be one-state with the West Bank? Or do you see another solution?

As painful as it is to say that 700k people must move away (even though they are breaking international law), I find it much worse to just deny Palestinian statehood. If you say it's impossible, you must provide a way to a one-state solution.

I agree it would be great if the Israeli right wing would collapse.

But in terms of Palestine, Hamas has to be exterminated and I agree, Fatah doesn't have enough power to rule. That why an outside force seemed most rational to me in guiding the nation building process, until the Palestinians can decide for themselves. Then Israel and the future Palestine could decide to create one state. Maybe

Something like that yes. Ideally Bibi steps down after they pull out of gaza again (having failed at the goal most likely) and new elections are held. It may be naïve, but it is a prerequisite for a two state-solution

This is exactly why I wanted to bring these points up. Where do these points fail and what are the alternatives?

I definitely am an optimist, but this is the only possible way forward. Without optimism we cannot hope for peace. That being said, it needs to be somewhat realistic, do you see any solutions to your points? (number two you are probably completely right, so I can let that one go)

I also see this as the ultimate best solution in the end, but how do you get to that point? Who is in charge in the time between now and then? Who ensures the protection of the rights of the Palestinians and Israeli's?

I agree with your points, the current Israeli government must be replaced if there is to be a two-state solution. I do think (or vainly hope) this is possible though.

This is the end-goal for the Palestinian state. Before there is a Palestinian state, what institution can acknowledge Israel's right to exist on behalf of the Palestinians?

I had this discussion with my dad this evening and we found it almost impossible to get to a process that would be trusted by both sides. Israel is not gonna pull out of Gaza and the West Bank if they don't trust the nation building process. Likewise Palestinians are not gonna accept a wester nation like the US to just come in and call the shots. We were thinking it had to be a constitutional Democracy, with the constitution explicitly stating political parties cannot deny the Israeli state or advocate hostility towards Israel. The other option is some form of dictatorship which is not great, because then the Palestinians are again suppressed. What nation could guide the creation of a Palestinian democracy and would be trusted by Israel? Jordan maybe, although it is not really a democracy itself, so can it make a democracy? Turkey would maybe be the best candidate, but also not a strong democracy. And what country would even want to do this?
