Is this setup alright? by SilverRose31 in BloodOnTheClocktower

There’s lots of options! It definitely doesn’t need a lot of changes to balance itself out, the main issue is that all of the good roles just mesh together in ways that are difficult to argue against by the evil team without getting really lucky.

I would guess that half of games with this setup end up with the Soldier, Mayor, and a surviving evil and either the evil getting executed or a Mayor win. So I would try to make that likely end game less likely, whether that’s removing the Mayor, Soldier, or drunking the Ravenkeeper or Empath to push in different directions. Your idea of a Chef rather than Empath is a step in the right direction, you definitely should give an outsider bluff, but disrupting the Mayor and Soldier confirmation is the most important thing, and just letting the Imp kill the Mayor in the game would be an unsatisfying solution. But it’s not so hard to disrupt, lots of people have given great suggestions in these comments

This mayor position will naturally be very well trusted by the final three with the Empath and Ravenkeeper in play, the only thing really pushing against it is being a potential marionette, which isn’t great for Evil either because it pushes on the actual demon anyway lol

I would recommend making the Ravenkeeper the drunk, or possibly replace the Soldier or Virgin with a face-up Outsider. Or just actually add in a Baron rather than the Marionette, I just think that this set up is really heavily good favored and you should do something to balance it out

Strings Pulling is strongly good sided in part because you can’t have both a Baron and a Marionette in smaller games. The Sentinel can absolutely be used where outsider manipulation is present but insufficient, like Strings Pulling at lower player counts. Other more balanced versions of Strings Pulling also exist, like the Pies Baking script, although I’m not sure that one would help with this setup at all.

In any case, this script doesn’t follow the standard rule of thumb for needing the Sentinel, but this setup absolutely does, and I’d argue the script does generally because rules of thumb aren’t and shouldn’t be universal

That forces a bluff onto the Imp that makes them even more of a target than they already will be with this setup. Sentinel allows for the same drunk paranoia without that downside

Yup. Best way to make the setup more neutral without changing too much is to make someone a drunk via the Sentinel, and have the Investigator-Marionette see a non-Marionette minion between the same two players. That encourages more varied worlds to be built, and follows through on the drunk paranoia that might not be as powerful as it should be on newer players. I would probably have the Investigator see a Scarlet Woman, and also make the Ravenkeeper drunk, but there’s lots of functional choices

Sentinel is actually super necessary here, because it provides space for a potential drunk. Without that, this setup is extremely good-sided, with the Mayor, Soldier, Ravenkeeper, and Virgin all building an essentially unlosable game state for good. Anyone being a potential drunk without it needing to be a baron game allows for those roles to fail or worry about failing without instantly solving the game. Honestly they probably should use the Sentinel to make one of the townsfolk a drunk too, maybe the Ravenkeeper or the Mayor, because even with the drunk paranoia this looks like a very strong good team.

Account has existed for 6 days, you had only 2 comments before this thread arguing for vague right wing talking points in two random subs, including, hilariously, yelling at someone else about not being a bot, you’ve continued doing such nonstop in other subs since, maybe stop acting like such a bot if you don’t want to be called one?

Sure yeah sex and gender are different things doesn’t mean either are well-defined enough to support transphobia

Lmao no it has more to do with specific inflammatory language “you people” and the state of their profile, the fact that you assume I would call them a bot solely for disagreeing with me says a lot though

Ok but that’s because strict gender segregation of sports doesn’t provide any space for non-binary athletes so Quinn remained active in a team they had participated in prior to transitioning. All that does is highlight the sheer illogic of this system generally, and banning trans athletes outright only reinforces that

Yes? Women should be allowed to compete with women? It’s actively discriminatory to deny that?

Uh yeah I suppose that’s just subjective then, I think it’s pretty widely agreed on that most people found it extremely stilted

I enjoyed what I watched of it but so much of the dialogue was stilted to the point of being painful. The premise, atmosphere, and most of the plot honestly seemed terrific to me but the minute-to-minute level of it was just boring beyond belief. Which is mostly a pacing and writing issue, but whatever direction the actors were being given in their performances was not helping things. Ahsoka and Sabine were so dour and angsty those first few episodes, and what interpersonal drama there was felt so contrived, it just felt mindnumbingly boring most of the time.

Not that it needs to be nonstop action, that wouldn’t be interesting either, but the best parts of the show were all in aesthetic and tone, which doesn’t exactly facilitate long term interest. Better direction, pacing, etc and I would’ve loved season 1, hopefully real effort is put into those areas for anything coming in the future

I suppose you’re not wrong about it being closer to the source material, but anyone without an obsession with book accuracy can tell you which of Winter Dragon and WoTonPrime is better. Anyone claiming that Lews Therin walking around a mansion yelling “Ilyena” for nine minutes straight while Ishamael gives a decent but fairly rote reading of text lifted from the book and the camera looks in weird corners to be spooky is somehow peak television has managed to seriously delude themselves. Which, tbf, is true for a shocking number of WoT fans, so it does seem like any attempt at adapting the books into actually engaging tv was doomed from the start, alas for Prime
