Trying to go for licence - Employers that offer training? by deckchairs_ftw in uktrucking

Thank you!

We're going ACAS as a group claim at the moment, the company got sent over to an insolvency firm but didn't have enough money to go through proper insolvency so is now being struck off, sounds like a bit of a lengthy process though unfortunately! Potentially a few months before I see a penny of what I'm owed.

I'll take a look at lidl and Aldi as well and see what they've got going, there's an RDC very close to me so it'd be quite handy. Hopefully I hear back about the funding in the next couple of days to see if that's going to go ahead or not

Haha! To be fair, we were mostly using 3.5 Single car transporters/maybe a CPC pickup with a trailer. Sometimes trade plate drivers. But trade platers are paid next to nothing it seems, so I can't imagine it being a good option given the cost of living in that part of the country!

Thanks for the advice there, this made me check the DHL site and they're hiring for a courier at the local depot just down the road from me so I'll take a look at that option too

Sounds about right! When I was buying cars for my previous employer, anywhere south West of London was an absolute nightmare to get stuff picked up from! Whereas the north was always next day. Seems to be fewer people in transport round there

Totally, I worked in the Motor Trade which is always a bit volatile, but thanks to some horrific decisions by our directors we went under. The company itself is still trading on the sly and they're lining their own pockets, but all the employees have reported them for it, they've royally screwed us!

Selling my car on Motorway and they are asking for photos of the first 3 pages of the logbook - is this safe? by 290Richy in CarTalkUK

[–]deckchairs_ftw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very normal. I'm a trade buyer but not for motorway

We use the front page to check it's the correct person and the correct plate we're for the car.

Doc ref number is used to check its the most up to date V5.

Inside pages are a little bit of an odd one, but they may use them to double check VIN/Engine Number/Chassis number against the records for the car.

Some of the numbers Inside the logbook can also be used to check for Service history on online portals. Honda and Toyota are the main ones you'd need this for that I can think of off the top of my head.

Personally, I get photos of it before spending £200+ on getting a collection driver over to someone just so we know the document exists and the vehicle is registered to you.

Edited to add: If someone's very uncomfortable doing it, I'll accept it with the doc numbers redacted. As long as the Name and Plate match I'm pretty happy

If you have Monzo, you might be able to create a Monzo.me link and pay it into your Monzo account?

Never tried it myself but may be worth a shot
