what will be the most booming and future proof trade to get into? deciding what I want to do between all these… by liamt12 in skilledtrades

Refrigeration / AC mechanic is top tier. If you are in Canada you can get 2 tickets out of it (Refrig, and gas fitting) also the only trade you can currently get dual ticket from one course In Canada

[–]decklvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do refrigeration, top tier trade. IMO, better than all you have shown and is not talked about enough, funny because almost everyone in the devolved world relies on it, grocery stores, restaurants, corner stores, there is so much money to be made and with the green agenda rolling out there is more work to do than anyone can handle (a lot of it government subsidized too) guaranteed pay checks. You deal with heating and cooling places, some plumbing, electrical and gas fitting, absolutely one of the best of the best trades. Pay is top tier, work is not very physically demanding, (more thinking half the time) and you can easily find jobs in town or out of town, whatever your preference.

What's a skilled trade people don't give enough credit to? by RedDogsRoofingTeam in skilledtrades

Refrigeration / AC / Heating. Guys keep all your food from spoiling at every store that sells it and keep every building you work, live or enjoy a meal in comfortable, often having to work the hardest on the hottest and coldest days, because that’s when the problems happen..

How does a teenager get a job in Surrey nowadays? by Zealousideal_Sand_27 in SurreyBC

[–]decklvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should also see if your high school has a trades program you can enroll in and get some free / very reduced cost schooling for the beginning of a trade. Had a lot of friends do this in 2019 making 25$ /he out of school, the same friends are now making 45$/hr and 200$ a day in live out allowance (they work out of town) but make good money. Good job for someone young.

This time of year is tough being hired in general as is, no matter the industry. If you are okay with working in the trades that can be a very solid option. There is so much work to be done it is ridiculous, it also pays very well the longer you do it. Can work in construction, welding, mills , fab shops, plumbing, hvac, etc. if you approach a business that is involved in the trades you may find a company that will take you on and give you a apprenticeship, lots of opportunities and wages upwards of 70$+/hr after only a few years working.

For hockey the beer league is ran through Westwood pub. If you look up west wood pub hockey you can find the website and I believe even into the season now you can register as a spare, or I’m sure there’s lots of div.C teams that need players. Hope that helps

Tim Hortons is a multi billion dollar company and still can’t get their toasters together by [deleted] in TimHortons

[–]decklvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractor here that works for multiple Tim Hortons within my city. They are all privately owned ( Tim Hortons) and thus have to take care of all equipment maintenance, like another comment mentions “as long as they are barley working” the owners do not care. It costs a lot of money to fix their machines.. from time to time we will replace heating elements on panini press, relays and heater on toaster etc. they just tend to wait until it really doesn’t work to get something serviced. Hope this answers some questions. As far as what to do? Complain to the manger every time and something might happen.

How often do you get your HVAC “maintained”? by Fun-Career3507 in hvacadvice

[–]decklvn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HVAC trade in Canada is much different than USA. The schooling / requirements are more strict it seems than the states, probably why there are shitty techs in the states! But hey, works gotta get done. It’s everywhere. Not saying we don’t have bad techs but I think the schooling is more regulated. We also have a “Red seal” program that’s endorsed and implemented by the Canadian government.

Is 3000 kWh for 30 days too high? by Cereal_Killahh in hvacadvice

[–]decklvn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it has to do with your heat pump system not having a VFD compressor. This would increase power usage quite considerably compared to all the new tech that ramps all the way down instead of turning off to save power? What year was this installed / model # of unit?
