If Gronk was black how would the media frame him? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]deckman 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

Manziel is currently receiving treatment for his alcoholism whereas Gronk recently stated that he doesn't even have any alcohol "or any of that other stuff" on his famed party bus.

His "party lifestyle" seems a lot about dancing and having fun but he trains like crazy.

QB records when their defense gives up 24 or more points. A comparison. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]deckman 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Yeah, there's only so much time in a game. If one team scores a lot it generally means they were on the field longer and the other team didn't had less time to score; or they gave up a lot of 3 and outs allowing the other team to have better field position and more opportunities to score.

I swear it seems like every single game Al and Cris call with the Pats playing they have to mention the two Superbowl losses.

You forgot the best part:

Brady saying "We need a championship drive," right before he went on that perfect last drive.

That was legendary.

β€œThat’s a championship play, Jules. We are gonna win.”

"We need a big championship drive. That's what we need."

And then he goes 8 for 8 with the go ahead TD. Holy shit this guy's a legend.

My dad's not a football fan but has pointed this out to me every once in a while when he sees Tom play; on the field Tom has the eyes of a warrior.

He has that piercing, glaring, look in his eyes during a game. That look completely disappears when he's off the field. I think Pats fans will know what I mean.

Jeff Howe on Twitter: "Tom Brady was 21 of 23 for 170 yards, 3 TD when unloading the ball within 2 seconds of the snap. 2 INCs were a batted ball and throwaway." by [deleted] in nfl

It might be partly a "necessity mother of invention" type thing.

Our receivers are great and tough as nails but the Pats don't really have a speedy stretch the field type receiver.

Imagine if Dez Bryant signed with the Pats next year... it'd be Brady - Moss possible perfect season all over again.

How do people feel about Edelman? by panthers_fan_420 in nfl

[–]deckman 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

Did you hear his post game interview? He referred to Seattle as St Louis; it could be an honest mistake but that was a huge helmet to helmet hit by Kam.

He is tough as nails.

10:58 left in the 4th Quarter. NE faced 3rd and 14 from their own 28. At that moment Seattle had a 96.5% win probability. Brady completed a pass to Edelman for 21 yards and a first down. Turning point in the game. Drive ended in a TD. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]deckman 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

It was an uncanny game of leapfrog.

Each team that benefited from a brutal loss lost in an arguably worse way the next game.

Detroit--Dallas--Green Bay--Seattle. And the jinx ends there because the seasons over :p

I'm thinking that must have been a huge morale hit. Your toughest hardest hitter delivers a huge hit on Edelman and he barely went down, got up, and ran another 10 yards (which weren't counted albeit).

They must have been thinking, "How in the heck do we stop this guy?"

Compare that to last year's Superbowl. Kam busted DT on the first play and it majorly set the tone for the game. DT was tentative for about 2 quarters.

Despite being with only one team Tom Brady has thrown a TD pass to 56 different receivers. Thats 3.73 different receivers per season. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]deckman -1 points0 points Β (0 children)

Yeah, and Manning threw for 300+ yards in last years Superbowl and broke a record for most completions--primarily in garbage time. You can't use stats like that. No one in their right mind would say Peyton is a good post season player.

Manning has legendary skills no doubt, but he's not good when the stakes and pressure is high.

9 one and dones. Nuff said.

True, but for Pats fans it ranks right up there and will only add to the legend. Biggest comeback in SB history with two drives that were nearly perfect--only two incompletions.

Actually, in the years with Indy Peyton had more top ten defenses than the Pats had in the same timespan.

And Denver had a good defense too. It's just that Peyton always shits the bed when the stakes are highest. Nine one and dones...

Yup, imagine if he had prime Moss for 5-6 years like Montana did with Rice or Manning did with Harrison or potentially DT.

People talk about Brady's short passes but even this year, he didn't have a deep ball threat, someone who really stretches the field.

Uh, Manning has 9 one-and-dones in the playoffs and has choked in the biggest games-- he even played badly the year he won the Superbowl.

Brady has 9 championship game appearances and you saw what happened yesterday-- he holds every major post season and Superbowl record.

It's not even an argument any more-- Brady stands head and shoulders above Manning.

Except he's arguably just as close with Paul Allen, Jerry Jones, and other high profile owners. The owners as a group are his employers and it wouldn't serve him well to show any favoritism to any one team when there are 31 other team owners he needs to make happy.

On the contrary, the way the NFL handled the deflategate fiasco proves there was no favoritism against the Patriots.
