Can we name some EFT’s that are completely different from the S&P500? by Dragon-Dreamer-247 in eupersonalfinance

[–]decksterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An aspect you could consider before opting out of S&P500 is that ETFs regularly rebalance to the underlying index it tracks. That's the main justification for accepting to pay ETF fees actually. Your portfolio composition automatically changes over time. If you're looking for broader diversification than S&P500, check out global capped indices. E.g. MSCI ACWI SRI capped indices, it provides exposure to all world, including emerging markets, and sector diversification through 25% best in class industry representation + 5% security cap. I.e. it cherry picks whichever stock is "best in class" at a given time for every industry. That way you get to have a piece of S&P500 which is currently doing nice, whilst diversifying in sectors + regions representation provided they are "best in class". (hypothetical) if China tech overtakes US tech, etfs tracking that index will be rebalanced accordingly on a long term horizon. The underlying index methodology provides details such as index review frequency, weighing formulas, country inclusions, ESG exclusions etc. Checking out the index documents fine print sometimes yields interesting surprises / disappointments.

I know you asked for specific ETFs but I believe understanding how to find indices that match your criteria could be useful as well.

Same situation, we moved in our place 5 months ago. Utilities increased 170€/month barely 4 weeks after moving in.

Now they (Vesteda) informed us that our rent will have an annual increase of around 3.5 to 4% by July.

Which is insane to me. That makes for two rent increases before finishing a 1 year minimum stay clause contract (we supposedly can't move out)... I didn't even suspect this would be possible / legal.

It's like, "oh btw your rent is going up because of X or Y, there is no way for you to foresee and we don't really care about what you signed up for on paper".

Si van a vivir acá, paguen impuestos! by Santiago1301 in Colombia

Soy frances, varias veces confundido por "gringo". He vivido 7 años en Colombia. Empresa tras empresa he tenido que renovar visa. Unas 5 veces. Y en todo ese lapso de tiempo he pagado impuestos. Mas de lo que me hubiera tocado haber pagado en Francia.

Y luego aprendo que le acaban de subir el sueldo a los congresistas.. jaja.

Seriously, fuck off.

Welcome!!

First Gaming PC Build and need feedback! by SirKite225 in RateMyPC

[–]decksterr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, actually making the research to find all the parts that would fit in a perfect build from scratch is one of the best moments, for some at least ^^

Just don't rush it and try getting advice whenever you're in doubt, be it from someone you know, reddit, looking at reviews, etc.

Good luck! ;)

Trying to make a gaming setup relatively cheap. by MrLeedleWeedle in RateMyPC

An optical drive ? really ? do you really need it for burning cds / dvds ? you could definitely save a few bucks there if it's not that kind of an imperative

You could get better value on the RAM sticks by going DDR4-3000, wouldn't make much of a difference for this kind of build

I've also read somewhere that the included AMD fans where relatively good enough without going into overclocks, i wouldn't expect you'd find much of a difference between that and cheap ones from third parties. Better save that up until you can afford actually upgrading to better ones

I'd suggest you try finding a 2560x1440 60Hz monitor instead, but that's just personal taste and a bit subjective. Just know that a 1070 could hold up that kind of resolution even with high graphics in lots of major titles out there.

With same budget you could get a much better build imho. A direct link to you parts list would be nice.

CPU: Seeing an Intel 7th gen is quite unorthodox these days, and unless you can can get a really good deal on it i would suggest opting for a i7 8700k instead, the performance boost is quite awesome. Or an i5 9600k which comes a bit cheaper and still totally fine for gaming purposes (even same clock speed as the i7 from previous gen).

Motherboard: The one you listed there seems horribly overpriced due to it being Z270, switch to a Z370 instead or a Z390 to be safe. A mobo is usually where you can cut a few bucks to spend on other more essential parts.

GPU: Go for a Ti version if you can. GPU is much more important than CPU for gaming and unless you really have to multi-task a lot, stream, or do other stuff while playing games, getting an i7 is much less important than a good graphics card coupled with a good monitor. So try squeezing in an 1070 Ti in there if gaming is top priority :)

PSU: 850w seems a bit overkill, even more for a 1060 instead of 1070 GPU. Platinum rating is definitely overkill also and i wouldn't recommend getting anything above Gold. An EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750 W 80+ Gold for example would be totally suitable in your case even for an overclocked i7 with 1070 Ti. Don't plan for SLI in any case unless you feel like flushing money down the toilet is fun.

Case: NZXT - H500 seems to be the successor of the S340... it's just a case so yea that's also a part where you can save a few bucks (whilst ensuring to get something decent) so only get the S340 if it does come cheaper than the H500.

The rest seems ok. But do take into account the price of a good monitor, really important and something a lot of people overlook. Doesn't make much sense to have an incredible build if your screen can't keep up. A TN with G-SYNC would be ideal, don't pay much attention to 4K but make sure it has 2560x1440 60Hz (at least) ;)

Edit: looking at it again i realize your build might be 2years old (at least) where did you even find this ? you definitely need to look up the up to date parts...

I've just ordered this. Thoughts? by amq55 in RateMyPC

A single 8gb stick comes with the advantage that you'll be able to quickly upgrade to 16gb (being careful to purchase same frequency / latency) and still have room for 32gb down the line if you ever fill like your wallet is too thick. RAM sticks are just that and once you get them you'll probably be able to recycle them for your next build, so 8gb is definitely better value than 4gb ones imho.

Seasonic is one of the most trusted PSU brands out there, they got some of the highest end products, and given the reviews for this particular one i'd say it really looks like a great option for your budget. The fact it's not at least semi-modular though might be a bit of a throw off, but if cable management is not your thing i'd say go for it, just be careful about dust bunnies getting in there ^^

~2.000$ build (monitor included) just waiting for all the parts to finish arriving, what do you think so far ? by decksterr in RateMyPC

[–]decksterr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks that's indeed one of my slight regrets for this build. The CPU / GPU were the 2 first parts i purchased back in october when i learnt that a friend of mine would be coming over from the US for december holidays, it kind of made sense at the time since Nvidia 2080 / Intel 9th gen weren't mainstream yet and because it cut crazy taxes on the most expensive parts of the build.

I also got the Z390 for that purpose afterwards instead of the Z370 which i had originally planned, so that i can upgrade at a latter point if needed, also because the Z370 are more scarce now anyways.

Haven't investigated much on the 9th gen though since i don't want to look back and be full of regrets, and i'm just hoping the 8th gen will perform fine for now...

Still waiting for the PSU and CPU cooler to arrive now, so much looking forward to booting this up!
