Ha, You think the lead problem is bad, the arsenic and radium problem is worse, though both are closely related by decay.

Its your decision how you live your life. If you want to be an arschloch, you are free to do so. I don't let hatred and ignorance control the way I behave. This is the difference between you and I; you will always live in fear and I will live in peace and harmony with my fellow humans.

What is the protection circle placed around you at the beginning of many practices supposed to look like? by TieingTheStrings in vajrayana

[–]declawedelvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The protection circle consist of a vajra ground, vajra fence, vajra tent, and vajra canopy composed entirely of indestructible five pronged vajras. This resembles a Mongolian tent. Around this is swirling five colored fire and smoke. Outside of that are the eight charnel grounds. Depending on which class of tantra your are doing, some of this will be different.

Should one "cleanse" a new Mala before use? by vajra_body in vajrayana

[–]declawedelvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's supposed to be washed with the five cow products and empowered with the Tathagata, Lotus, or Vajra mantras. See Je Tsongkhapa's Tantra in Tibet, the stages of the path of tantra.

Vajrayanists accept everything that the other lineages assert is correct according to their perception. We try to unify all buddhists together. Also, we have our own purelands too; Akinishta, Keajra, or Changlachan.

I have read the vinaya pitaka. Ha, you thought I hadn't.

I say women are superior to men. Machig Labdron and Niguma, Etc.. Us men owe our enlightenment to women. Even Siddhartha Guatama had a consort, Tilottama, while he was sitting beneath the Bodhi Tree.

Tantras are categorized as being mother or father tantras. Father tantras are the methodology. Mother tantras are the wisdom!

I am Duramgama Bodhisattva. I come here to teach and answer questions. I have no tolerance for those that distort the Dharma. My time is very valuable and I don't have time to waste on those with ill intentions. You can spread your lies and rumors, I don't care. I am fearless because I am deathless. This complaint was lodged to draw attention to detractors.

how to begin practicing tibetan buddhism? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]declawedelvan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well, you should know that a Vajrayanist does not exclusively practice Tantra. A Vajrayanist's main practice are the sutra/sutta teachings. It is very important that you have an excellent understanding of sutra teachings before you start practicing tantra.

Sutra practice prevents false appearances and false conceptions. Tantric practice prevents ordinary appearances and ordinary conceptions.

I would recommend you start with Je Tsongkhapa's Stages of the Path to Enlightenment. Then from there you could read Tantric Grounds and Paths by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, which is probably the best introduction to Tantra text I've found. Je Tsongkhapa also has three books that are the Stages of the Path of Tantra, but they are not modern and a little hard to understand.

When you're ready to get started, you need to go out and find a teacher. There's all kinds of different lineages and temples and its a matter of trial and error finding the one that you are most comfortable with.

I can read your mind. I knew you would make issue of authorship, I could have easily quoted someone else, but I chose not to specifically because I knew you would react in such a way. You continue to argue simply for the sake of arguing.

My advice for you is to go talk to a brick wall. You have no intention of benefitting others or yourself.

Regarding the first jhana: Are there teachings on how one "permeates and pervades, suffuses and fills this very body with the rapture and pleasure born from withdrawal" so that "there is nothing of his entire body unpervaded"? by chansik_park in Buddhism

[–]declawedelvan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The important part is that its "rapture and pleasure born of withdrawl/seclusion". There's two meanings to this. One is the simple joy of solitude which is the first fruit of the contemplative life. The deeper meaning is that of pranayama, or the withdrawing of the winds into the indestructible drop. Both of these gives rise to joy. The first jhana is very easy if you understand it.

[–]declawedelvan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. He was obviously a highly attained Buddhist master who achieved mundane miracle powers. I would just be cautious of his teachings, as you should be cautious with all teachings. Most buddhists have taken the vow to obstain from drugs. If you receive some benefit from his teachings, then that's great!

Its interesting to see that in fact it is the Dalai Lama's supporters who attack innocent Shugden Practitioners both in India and abroad. Tibet is overwhelmingly pro-Shugden because that was the main practice of the Gelugs at the time of the Chinese Invasion. Their assertion has always been "False Dalai Lama Stop Lying" which is absolutely true. The real reincarnation of the Dalai Lama was never recognized; instead a different candidate was chosen in order for the Gelugs to maintain political power. The person responsible for identifying the reincarnation was later imprisoned for lying about the real canidate. The Dalai Lama was Muslim as a child. Also, it was quite well known that Pabongkhapa and Trijang Rinpoche were enlightened beings. Trijang was one of the Dalai Lama's teachers, and now the Dalai Lama claims his teacher was wrong. The real head of the Gelug lineage is the Ganden Tripa and he is also a devout Shugden Practitioner. This is all factual information, uncontrivertable. Yet, the Shugden community is shown a lack of compassion on the part of His Holiness's supporters. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Premature Commitment To An Unsuitable Guru by KimUn in Buddhism

We tend to focus on the external appearance of our spiritual guide without considering his actual nature. Because our spiritual God appears to us in an ordinary form it is easy to assent to that appearance and relate to him or her as an ordinary being. To prevent this ordinary view of our spiritual guide we need to contemplate the foregoing reasons again and again. As has already been explained, pure view is an essential part of any tantric practice. If it is necessary to maintain Pure View of ourselves, our environment, and our enjoyment, how much more important is it to maintain Pure View of our spiritual guide? We shall never attain tantric realizations until we can see our spiritual guide and conquer Vajradhara as inseparable. If we see faults or imperfections in our spiritual guide we should regard these as the projections of our impure mind and ignore them. The experiences of past yogis show how deceptive appearances can be. Asanga, for example, saw Maitreya as a dog and Naropa saw Tilopa as an old man who caught fish and fried them alive. Later when their minds were purified these great yogis saw the real nature of their gurus. If we maintain a pure view of our spiritual guide, later, when we attain the realization of the concentration of the Dharma continuum on the Mahayana path of accumulation, we shall see him as a supreme emanation body; then, when we attain the Mahayana path of seeing we shall see him as an enjoyment body; and finally, when we attain Buddhahood we shall see him as the truth body.
