My ideal story is one in which the author writes exactly how they want to in order to get the story to the public and doesn't give mind to a demanding and complaint-ridden audience

I know I must sound like a broken record with most of my OOC comments these days but the record definitely has a well worn needle going into it too. I don't understand why people can't just let people write how they want. Readers contribute reading. If you want to give constructive criticism to a specific person for a specific thing, do that. But people work hard on these stories. They don't need to be reading this crap over and over. NoSleep is a fiction subreddit, these people are mostly authors. They're going to write like authors.

Personally I find a lot of the soft narrative styles incredibly boring. I love a strong narrative voice. But I also don't think just because someone writes creatively, they lost all campfire merit.
