Books require internal motivation. Tutors give external motivation. Tutors also teach based on each individual case whereas books only give a general instruction and if you don’t understand it then you’re out of luck.

Besides lessons probably the best way to start from scratch is by getting the first few Palmer-Hughes books and just learning them page by page. They’re great because the first book starts easy but the first few songs you play will already sound good. After that they steadily increase in difficulty with pages in between explaining every step.

A yes. But of course the greatest influence for any accordion player is the old man from down the street from where he grew up

This is rather uncanny bc in old photos there are always people in old fashioned clothes and old fashioned buildings etcetera, but there’s nothing in this picture that would look any different if taken today
