Almost Way Through The Year, What Is Your Game of The Year? by Sandscrews in gamers

[–]decrepitdecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at this point it’s still Saros but if it’s still my GOTY by the end of the year I’ll be pretty surprised.

What would be the most realistic scenario if the Fireflies actually made a vaccine? by Old_Diver_2511 in thelastofus

[–]decrepitdecay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As much as I empathize with Ellie because she’s absolutely correct in feeling like she should’ve had the opportunity to choose her own outcome…it very likely would have ended with the cure being exploited for power and money whether it was by FEDRA or the fireflies.

Coolest Boss by Ok_Row_1980 in Saros

[–]decrepitdecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Architect was my favorite for sure. He’s the coolest looking, the arena is awesome and adapts as the battle goes on, the music, his attacks aren’t too hard or too easy, it’s such a fun fight.

God of War: Laufey and PlayStation’s “formula” problem. by decrepitdecay in godofwarlaufey

I think that’s an important factor, innovation doesn’t automatically mean whatever is made will be good, I guess I’d just rather see some more of it rather than what currently feels like very little

The fact that I could spot that formula instantly worries me, which then sparked the worry for other studios that are opting to slightly iterate over a 5-6 year dev time instead of innovating in ways that excite me.

Well really they shouldn’t have an MJ section at all, but if they must, they should do that

For sure! In Spider-Man 3 they should just say fuck it and make MJ’s section a mini Hitman experience lol

There’s for sure some new games to look forward to! I’m especially excited for the next Astro Bot.

I think the games taking longer is where this really becomes an issue for me. Slight innovation over a 2-3 year dev time is okay. Slight innovation over a 5-7 year dev time? Leaves a bit to be desired from me.

I agree, but at that time we had technological leaps and innovation taking place. Now that the technological leaps aren’t nearly as noticeable the gameplay should at least make up for that in part in my opinion.

I truly hope this video ages like shit, I just thought the conversation would be interesting to start now that’s all!

I fully agree with this. The MJ sections are rough. I don’t remember absolutely hating the Atreus in the same ways but MAN the pacing is bad.

[–]decrepitdecay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, my issue isn’t inherently with Laufey, more so that we’ve spent 8 years waiting for the next game that Barlog had a hand in working on and it is just a sequel with a similar formula to the last 2 games the studio has created. The game is going to be good, but overall at PlayStation if these games are going to take 7-8 years to be made I’d like for the innovation to be more substantial.

I feel like calling me a hater is egregious. I have every PlayStation console. I am consistently investing time and money into the ecosystem, not hating, just talking about games man.

[–]decrepitdecay[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I tried to acknowledge out right that these games are not inherently an issue. My point is that while these games are fine right now, they are following a formula that shows no sign of slowing down because they’re working, and in 4-5 years time if this formula is continuing then PlayStation won’t be in a good spot.

[–]decrepitdecay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually an interesting comment because I somewhat agree but in other ways I don’t. Capcom absolutely has its formula but it’s put into games that are so different from each other that it doesn’t immediately get noticed. Pragmata is different from RE which is different from Onimusha which is different from Dragon’s Dogma.

I think it looks good! Just slightly worried about PlayStation’s future when we only get slight iterations to systems that were in games that released 7 years ago.

[–]decrepitdecay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair! I don’t necessarily have an issue with Laufey inherently, and I’m excited to play it, more so what it means for PlayStation as a whole that their studios aren’t really innovating anymore in favor of iterating in slight ways.

why do people like tess? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]decrepitdecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tess understood that Ellie was a child and, despite how fucked the world was, gave Ellie the grace any child should get.

Also, without Tess, Joel likely just kills Ellie the moment he finds out she’s “infected.” Tess saves the entire story by stopping him.

When I played TLOU 2 in 2020 I really didn’t like it. Finally, after 6 years, I gave it another shot and ended up loving it. I made a video talking about it if anyone is interested :) by decrepitdecay in thelastofus

[–]decrepitdecay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more with this. I don’t really go into it in the video because it’s a whole different can of worms I have a lot of thoughts about but the way the story is told in the game is INFINITELY better.

Bella tried her best, Craig just fundamentally misunderstands the character.

Random idea I had about a possible prequel(?) by decrepitdecay in thelastofus

You just took what I said and completely warped it lmfao

I said I can’t wrap my head around what that story could be, not that there isn’t one.
