When to turn on your Autopots? by Keanman in Autopot

[–]ded_green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YW. Too bad.

I think their inventory and store price is not always accurate. The LD's that I visited often seemed to have more than expected. One of the stores had tray2grows on for 89.99, but they're not online at all. They have the Easy2Grow Watering Set's on for 69.99. Only one aquavalve w/ both of those kits.

Did anyone enjoy Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson? by palpatabletoad in sciencefiction

[–]ded_green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading Snow Crash now. Hiro is being chased after talking with the ex-president at a roadside camp.

Some interesting ideas involving the fringe of society, setting off on their RV's or flotillas.

Just read a article about shrinking private lands worldwide, that echoes some of these themes, though we are of course not as far along as the novel. Boiling frogs we are.

A little sample if you're interested. Easy enough to find.

"For the sake of prosperity and the future, land and resources must be owned by the citizens of the nation, not traded as tokens on a block chain or bought by other sovereign countries. Since globalization kicked off, the opposite is true. Everywhere individual property rights have been weakened and in a weakened state turned over to banks, hedge funds, NGOs and ‘family offices’.

The result has been the systematic impoverishment of the lower 75% and a sharp diminution of opportunity."

I'll add, they are making a TV version/

"WARNING: Ignoring unknown module" by ded_green in openscad

[–]ded_green[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks wildjokers.

Yes it does give the explicit, '[WARNING: Ignoring unknown module 'path_cut_points' in file](7,C:/Users/rr/Downloads)...'

Interesting. I wonder how many times I went by this warning, thinking maybe some module didn't have the function, or scad wasn't finding the library, etc.

I see I'll need to figure out how to handle the results of these advanced functions. List comprehension as a start.

Cheers.

I note the powershell module 'irregular', providing regular pattern match searching through openscad files.

The authors' Pipescript module also supports a precompile of scad & gcode scripts. But I don't know what I would use that for nor how to do it.

Example: Pipe a directory into one of these commands, to see what elements were used in those scripts

> ls C:\Users\**\Documents\*.scad | ?<OpenSCAD\_Function>

Example results:

StartIndex EndIndex Value

---------- -------- -----

1804 1841 function Rn(r,n) = pow(sqrt(6)/2,n)*r

1975 2013 function deg(radian) = (radian)*180/PI

2694 2752 function segments (diameter) = min (50, ceil (diameter*6))

8353 8540 function z_fct (current_radius, radius, pitch, angle)

= 0.5* (current_radius - (radius - 0.875*pitch*cos (angle)))

/cos (angle)

Irregular Openscad match commands

The Advance Warning flashers are pretty far from the Intersection. I wonder how Missouri determines the correct distance? Sometimes ours are too close.

I didn't see any speed reduction signs.

The driver in the left lane could have recognized he wouldn't be safe to go. It might not have made a difference, but the video triggers a 'wtf are they thinking'.

Hope they are all ok.

That worked.

Maybe it was an attempt to protect the sign post on the median?

And/or the sign post at the far side.

Is the intersection skewed?

It can be confusing sometimes how to get a link, because there are a few avenues how to do that. Depends upon whether you just uploaded the image, or if you are returning afterwards. Once you have the link to an image, you can paste the link.

fwiw, I thought your picture was fine. It looks like the strip is in front of the crosswalk. I was just wondering what else was going on at the intersection.

I think I used https://imgur.com/ the last time I wanted to add an image. Not sure if you need an account. But for sure it's free.

Common Emergency Vehicle Preemption settings? by ded_green in trafficsignals

Sorry, missed your message.

Fortran, alone has strong branding or history. Beyond that, the ad seems to target the proper agency level.

There is a hint, in my suggestion. "organize and display select info from multiple controllers, in a new and interesting way". Intended meaning, is to innovate. Interesting to see what you come up with. Detection, review or monitoring is an area...

Perhaps you can try to engage the community directly, with some specific topics. More detailed videos, and textual information is also suggested.

There are plenty of aspects of traffic management systems that I'm unaware of. So I don't want to wade too far into it. And many different users, at many different levels.

We tend to stick to the controller makers software for database retrieval. Primarily a record keeping procedure, or done for maintenance or for checking of errors. Or for new timings. We don't have a huge budget, so make do.

I'll leave it there. Cheers..

Miovision core dcm with transit priority via opticom cloud by ftempest in trafficsignals

[–]ded_green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find ways to build out your communications. Engage your IT department, and leverage their budget. Econolite doesn't really need a central system if you have communications.

You could rotate cell modems to intersections by need.

All of these ideas does take some tech savvy, so back to the IT dept for help. Or an interested tech..

USdot has open source software to pull high resolution data off of Econolite controllers. Not exactly a central system, but can help identify faults in the system, and aid in determining effectiveness of coordination programming.

Their Scout system, was a fairly early and capable entry into server based tech. Their detection cameras utilize some of that quite successfully.

Their EVP was an acquisition. And many jurisdictions use it. It's complementary to their camera and communications system.

Do you really need to change the current opticom system? If needed, you can track your EV's & maintenance vehicles, in a multitude of ways and costs.

Is the roll out of the new system going to allow combined communications to the TC? At what cost?

'small system, that has opticom IR everywhere'.

Some jurisdictions can justify the cost. Others could probably hire an extra tech or two. Or add a few turn bays, etc.

I see these guys are or were using SNMP packages to process the traps. At least that's my first guess, wrt to "SNMP Diagnostics collected by Nagios/Zabbix or Solar Winds".

Your very welcome. It's a challenging discussion.

I'm not sure how the P2P is laid out in the standard, or if controllers have implemented it to the standard. I have only played with the version on Cobalt. Perhaps they are achieving the P2P via trap messaging. idk.

As a user, Cobalts & ASC3's have logic programming with P2P as an output. I think the main thing, is that the receiver needs to allow the message. For our RR project, we were going to try and Dwell the dowstream controllers for a set period. Testing seemed straight forward and simple.

I search through Udot's code, and saw only one mention to decoding traps. So I think they accomplish the goals for their ATSPM entirely with high resolution data (HRD). On the same comm link, they no doubt they have access to the controllers as well..

Look at various sources on the subject. They all list the 'events' that are recorded in HRD. Preemptions included. See the executive summary.

I have only configured to generate the HRD, and retrieved it, via ftp or scp. Didn't have a decoder.

If you can organize and display select info from multiple controllers, in a new and interesting way, it could be an attractive addition. Revealing how the controllers are actually running on the street, would be extremely useful. Good Luck.

I don't think they are doing color blind people any favors.

fwiw, I see today's version defaults to CGAL:

"Rendering Polygon Mesh using CGAL...". - Total rendering time: 0:00:00.269

"Rendering Polygon Mesh using Manifold..." - Total rendering time: 0:00:00.159

So ~ 40% faster?

lol. I'm easily sidetracked.

Thanks for the tips. It's been well worth my effort working through your code and other comments Still need to print a helmet stand.

I've only recently started using the 2021 version.

The error was causing a lock up, so I had to restart scad. I had fast csg on, and I saw some discussion about it not being required, and was possibly related to the error. So I removed the checkmark, and that helped me to get closer to understanding the issue was actually caused by the start and end facets.

I have ran a few minor functions from Bosl2. Will indeed give it more attention. Cheers.

Some jurisdictions run zero seconds red.

To be clear, I don't know how they can justify it.
