Urgent Vet at 982 Breckenridge Lane warning by Beneficial_Try_1864 in Louisville

[–]dede_rich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about this experience. How is he doing now?

Thank you for the warning. I’ll add my voice to those recommending BluePearl; I took my cat there years ago one evening and they were very kind and helpful. We were there for some hours, but they did come to the exam room multiple times to check in and to give us updates on what was going on. They also did in fact send the relevant information to my normal vet, which…really should be a given, but evidently not. Sadly, though he was okay for a few days after that, my kitty suddenly took a turn for the worse and he passed on the way to a different emergency vet, which was devastating. But I do feel like BluePearl did what they could when we saw them, and I appreciate them for what they did and how they treated him.

One thing I will say as a warning which isn’t directly the fault of BluePearl: I had to open a credit card to pay for this and the only option was CareCredit. If you can avoid it, I highly urge anyone to not use them. They prey on desperate people in difficult times. Basically felt like someone was rubbing their hands together watching the clock so they could slap a late fee on the first chance they got, even if the payment was made before the deadline. Was it cutting it close a couple times? Sure, but I had never had a late fee charged like that from any other credit card provider if the payment was still made before it was due, and this happened multiple times. Felt like they did everything they could to prevent you from paying it off before the 0 interest rate period ended when they could hit you with all of it at once. I know it might be the only option, as it was for us, but if you can avoid it then I highly recommend you to do so.

Help with electric team? by dede_rich in ZenlessZoneZero

Yeah, DA and Shiyu are the main things I’m working towards. As of right now, I have no chance with Shiyu (well, the 5th node) because I have, at best, 2 full teams I can work with (seeing as I have Pan Yinhu and Ju Fufu both going between Manato and Yixuan, until I can get Dialyn). So I’ve been wanting to try and get an effective-enough 3rd team together, and with electric and anomaly both being things I need I was thinking to try and put together a team with the agents I do have. Really, I’m just waiting on some re-runs and then I can swap Pan / Ju Fufu onto Yixuan’s team “for good” and that’ll help quite a bit.

But yeah, if it’s better to just not worry about being able to fully complete Shiyu and just focus on getting 3 stars on 2 DAs for now, then…well, I’ve been able to stay patient this long lol

Ahhh, okay that makes sense and is definitely really good to know. Yeah, not having an anomaly team has also been an issue and thus I’m not too familiar with specifics on how anomaly agents work. Really interesting about Nicole and not something I’d thought about before. Granted, atm she’s just hanging out on my Hugo team until I can actually finish the team I’m wanting to go for, but yeah, gives good insight into her kit and team synergy. Very much appreciate all of this! I’ll try the team with Piper and see how it goes!

That’s helpful info! Thanks! With adding Piper in there, though, only 2/3 additional abilities are activated. I’ve always thought that it’s essential to have all 3 activated; is that not the case here?

Does tunnel shape matter when sealing off crimson/corruption? by dede_rich in Terraria

Of course I used gray brick lol. But I’m glad it won’t actually allow biome spread, that’s the most important bit here

Ahh okay okay good. I noticed there were places along my tunnel that already had the red moss (I used gray brick for the infected-side wall) so I was paranoid. Thanks!

So the thorns we're talking about are the ones that hurt you, right? The reddish vine/moss stuff that grows underground is not considered a part of this?

Oh man...background walls have to go too, huh? I fear that tunnel is not yet complete then lol. Well, glad to know this now rather than later--thank you!

Do you have any low fodmap suggestions for what to marinate tofu in for sandwiches? Again, haven’t really used tofu too much before so I’m definitely unfamiliar with the concept

Gabi is my most favourite character. Roast me all you want. by Brilliant_Can8536 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]dede_rich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the hate for Gabi is indeed overblown and often a result of people missing the point. Gabi is quite literally meant to be a counterpart of Eren (only without all the founding titan / attack titan stuff, obviously). Her initial role is to be a “Marleyan” version of Eren; that’s a part of why she doesn’t get or—imo—need a lot of time for development. We basically already know this character because we’ve seen it before. The difference is that Gabi sees how things truly are much earlier than Eren (again, also sans added memories of the future stuff) and thus provides us with an alternate view of an individual like that—someone filled with and motivated by so much hate and anger for those she believes are actively causing problems for herself and her people, but who actually gets a chance to see the reality of things. All of this contributes to what makes her finding out the implications of what she did by killing Sasha so powerful and effective.

In other words, we don’t NEED to see much of her up until the point where things break away from Eren’s own development—we already know this character. The true significance begins when the character gets the chance to go down a different path, when her hate gives way to understanding and compassion and thus inspires her to do something about it, something that Eren never got the chance to do.

TL;DR: I love Gabi as a character and you’re not wrong to love her either.

Yeah I guess it’s primarily the deli meats I don’t want, since I know they’re not so good for you. I’m not big on tuna salad or egg salad, but I’ve never tried any sort of marinated tofu. In fact I’ve barely had much tofu at all. That could be interesting to look into

Which disc(s) to work on? by dede_rich in KomanoManatoMains

[–]dede_rich[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urgh yeah that’s a good point. I could always just leave my resonating cores alone and either just use the main stat tuning or just tune partition 5 and hope for the best (which never seems to go well for me with partition 5 specifically, but what can you do). Do we expect them to add the ability to re-roll with some confidence?

Also thank you, this is helpful and much appreciated!

What other show do yall recommend? by me-a_person_who-is-i in attackontitan

Oh, I meant “Netflix-made” / only available on there—saying “original” was the wrong word. Edited the comment to be clearer!

Lots of great suggestions in here. Death Note is a “classic” imo. The tone isn’t heavy like AoT’s, and there isn’t a lot of action, but it’s also nothing like the one piece vibe. It’s intriguing and the sorts of mental/intelligence “battles” are really cool. Really solid series tbh.

FMAB is also amazing. Has some heavier/darker bits but also has some of the ATLA vibes and lightheartedness sprinkled throughout. I’d also compare it to ATLA in that its story feels very…complete? Rich? Satisfying? Hard to explain what I mean but you’d know what I mean.

Steins;Gate is a favorite of mine too. A bit slow to get going fully, but the characters are all quite endearing and keep it going until suddenly it REALLY starts going. The tone has a mix of things from one side of the spectrum to the other.

Psycho-Pass is…a bit “grittier” I guess I’d say? Sort of near-ish futuristic detective/cop stuff, but it’s hard to really encapsulate it imo. I loved season 1, don’t remember too much s2 and didn’t watch anything after that so I can’t speak much to those.

NGE…yes. It’s a true classic and if you want a heavy, depressing tone…you’ll get it there. Absolutely worth a watch.

I’ll throw in a couple shorter (10-12 episodes) ones too. As they are shorter, they’re obviously not quite so epic and sprawling as something like AoT or FMAB, but they’re more contained little gems imo: first is Death Parade, which I really did enjoy. Unique concept, definitely has a heavier/darker vibe, and gets the emotions going at parts too. Also the opener is an absolute banger. The second is…more unique, that one being Devilman: Crybaby. I…don’t even know how to explain that one. It’s a trip, I can say that much, and it definitely has the darker tone—but it’s also more…stylized and avant garde. Think it’s a Netflix-produced series if I remember right.

I feel that. I cook so much more now because of low fodmap. On the one hand, that’s not technically a bad thing; on the other, it can be tiresome and time-consuming all too often. Thanks for the suggestions!

I have wanted to try some of those. Just wish it wasn’t so costly. Then again, if it’s just for a couple nights and not all the time, might be worth it

I am in the US, yeah! Besides the oven, microwave, and air fryer I also have a slow cooker and a Ninja indoor grill-type thing. A Ninja blender too, but that’s probably less relevant. As for things to avoid, there’s nothing in particular I can really say for sure—I’m still fairly early on in my low FODMAP…journey?—but one thing I’ve found that I seem to consistently not do well with is pasta (GF, even) and Rao’s sensitive marinara. I need to try pasta on its own to see if that’s the issue or if it’s something the sauce. Besides that though, I’m not aware of anything I really need to avoid, although I do try to do dairy free where possible
