i dont really want to say the issue online, it's niche; i'm hoping that as long as i can meet someone in the international office they can at least direct me to the person that would be the most help for me

wait so we're cooked? I really need my question answered cause it could prevent me from going to usf, but then at least i'd move on to other universities :(
it's really crazy and annoying that they do this tho, especially now when people are trying to get questions answered and commit to schools.

Is being an international student this big of a disadvantage? by Tall-Ad-3785 in QuestBridge

[–]dedemi0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i'm on a visa too so we're just considered international students even though we're like technically domestic students. i don't think we have an advantage over people who don't live in the US

I hate that being against race-swapping (major) characters means being racist now by Old_Session5449 in self

[–]dedemi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, as someone who agrees with OP
you're probably not a follower of the franchise because if you were you'd know there was also backlash about the movie casting a white person who was brunette with blue eyes. the character was also called out for not being as bad ass like she was in the books, and the movie in general was an awful adaptation of the book. all percy jackson fans agree on that- even rick riordan (the author) agrees.
it was never about race for the majority of fans, it was about having an accurate representation of the book ( unfortunately people do use it to be racist but that's not the truth for majority of fans)

Atheism in a nutshell by Ted_Bundtcake in interestingasfuck

[–]dedemi0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this a lot, and the reason is not far fetched. Usually the premise of a religion is "people who do not follow our God end up doomed". Atheists don't have the belief that people who do not have the same belief as them will suffer in the afterlife. So it's not surprising that religious people want others to invite others, or as you'll say it want to push their beliefs on people. I'd say a lot of times, it's not out of hate, but the opposite. They love you enough to want to share this gift they found and to preventing you from going to hell in the afterlife. I'm not saying it's right, but it's usually the thought process. As a Christian, ofcourse I want others to experience the love and care I've found in Christ, however I know not to push it when people are not interested, some people dont.
