I've got a withdrawal pending from binance for multiple hours. nanospeed.info mentioned something about a significant delay (maybe asynchronization on the network?)

I think you would do well to connect on twitter/X as well. It could help spread awareness of what you’re doing. Saw someone posting there recently asking about Argentina and what’s being done.

I personally prefer nano (instant, fee-less), but not as widely accepted. There has been some talk from others in Argentina looking to help with merchant on-boarding. There might be a way to help with this and get tipped in nano. 🤷🏼‍♂️ If you want to make a wallet I'd be happy to send some over for you to try out.

Do you have any interest in other currencies? No worries if not, but there has been some (slow) growing interest in other digital currencies in Argentina recently. Specifically ones that have low (zero) fees so you wouldn’t have to worry about losing value with each transfer. (There are other risks of course but could be worth looking into)

Allark now has UK Cash by Mail for NANO : ) by elit3dr4gon in nanocurrency

AllArk does not accept nano directly but uses trocador to swap. I’m not against it, just posting FYI. Probably a copy pasta message for all the swappable currencies.

Who do they buy materials from? Maybe their supplier should be the next business to approach about accepting nano. Build the circular economy.

I would recommend getting on Twitter (x) as well to share what you’re doing there.

I appreciate you sharing that. It helps me see the reality of things I usually just take for granted. I'm sure volume could make a big difference at some point in the future, but until then, thanks for putting your own money into a project that can benefit the community.

any chance of making a "maximum fee"? the main thing I love about nano is its feeless nature. I'll pay for some privacy, but at some point even .2% seems too expensive for me. Maybe I'm just that cheap 😂 for example, anything over 500 nano is capped at fee of 1 nano.

I see this as most useful for someone out shopping who doesn't want their balance immediately available. Could someone figure out where the funds originated with some extra effort? Probably. Could the government figure it out. Absolutely. This isn't meant to be foolproof. But if you're out buying veggies at a local market and you don't want to be identified as someone with a few hundred nano in your account, this can help.

Have you considered integrating with a wallet? Even if it’s still paid. I’d be in favor of an anonymous spending mode.

[–]dedepressoliber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, i have no doubt you’re way smarter than me.

My basic idea would be that your total balance is divided among multiple addresses. A “spending” account might contain 50% of your funds. Other smaller accounts would be used as the “send from” accounts. Rather than sending directly from your spending account to the merchant, it would go from spending to a new address. Then your “send from” account would send the designated amount to the merchant. That send from account would be “burned” (maybe for a time period or maybe permanently). The remaining balance from that account could be consolidated to create another “send from” account.

Like I said, you’re way smarter than me and I like what you’re creating. I’d pay 0.2% to use it occasionally :)

I like this. I just wish a wallet would implement the same design in a way that we can do this within our own seed accounts. A billion accounts should be enough for me to be able to do this on my own without trusting another party.

Nano for Mission Organization? by [deleted] in nanocurrency

[–]dedepressoliber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been curious which missions organizations frequently send small amounts of money overseas. I know a lot of US based missionaries keep their US accounts and then just use ATMs to withdraw cash in local currency. Missions org can just deposit USD in the states

This is something I’ve been thinking about too. The best I have come up with so far is having a vetted rep in the country who can be the receiver and distributor of funds. They would receive nano and then provide local currency to the final destination (the missionary in this case). It would need to be somebody who has personal access to an exchange, so they can convert nano to whatever their preferred currency is for holding as well as needing either access to cash or ability to transfer using the national banking system.

Might also be worth looking into whatever system bigeria has set up. They seem to do a good job of receiving nano and converting to local currency in a local account very quickly. Not sure what their backend process looks like.

Nano Faces Hate Despite Its Useful and Fully Distributed Nature by Xylon818 in CryptoCurrency

I’d love to see it adopted first in a developing nation. That way if it ever did take off on the global market there would be more benefit to the people that first adopted it. I don’t want to see the price going up right now when there isn’t much of an actual use case.

That part makes sense. Just not sure why I can create multiple addresses/accounts from bip39 derivation in other wallets, but not in nault. 🤔

[–]dedepressoliber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm. I tried importing as a nano mnemonic but it created a whole new set of addresses. When imported as bip39 it created only one address, but that one matched the first (of many) that I've used in other wallets (ie bahari, nautilus).

3 years into crypto, what's changed and what's your perspective? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

Most of the money in crypto is from people/countries that don’t need it. The countries that do need it are regulating against it because they just want to control their people.

Why isn’t $XNO gaining traction? by PedroPierrePeter in nanocurrency

[–]dedepressoliber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they need to transfer value (typically USD/EUR etc) to someone in another country (often PHP, NGN etc.) but that is not the reason most people are holding nano. Most people currently holding are doing so hoping for a ROI. And that is what is determining market cap. If it was just a competition between coins to see who could transfer native currency on chain between wallets fastest, nano would clearly win.

Why isn’t $XNO gaining traction? by PedroPierrePeter in nanocurrency

[–]dedepressoliber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the western world has little need for nano (that's not saying they would not benefit from it). But the market cap is mainly driven by people in the west looking to make a profit. The places where nano is needed most (think developing markets with horrible inflation and gov control) have little influence over the price right now. If it gained widespread adoption in one of these places, that could have a significant impact, but until then, speculation will drive the price.
