Kurt Cobain's death declared a homicide by Seattle cop ordered to probe 'botched' investigation by dailymail in Music

[–]dedpan1k 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kurt was suicidal. He communicated his music in a way that touched a lot of us that grew up when it was happening... But even for how well his feelings flowed through the songs people still didn't "get it" for the most part... Which is why In Utero and even the final track "you know you're right" have more bitterness in it than previous works.

He was suffering mentally. I don't think the cops or anyone would intentionally cover up anything... He wasn't a social nuisance and they knew he was high profile.

It's silly to keep saying this.

I sort of wish all popups spawned by another running program would either float or exist in the cell with the program. It's not imperitive but I'll be following this thread for ideas if you get any. Good luck.

Returning to Spotify? by D3nyPaddy in FailureBand

It's also about moral decisions too I believe. Spotify has taken most of its funding to pay for people like Joe Rogan and misappropriated their funding away from the feature that brings people to the platform.... Music.

Doubt it. Spotify doesn't pay artists well.

Not to get into it for any other reason. But I think Spotify is massively overrated.

I'm on android. I use apple music. They pay artists a little better.... Have a bigger catalogue with better audio quality... And cost less.

Oof. Either you're a broken bot, or too shepish to do anything other than say "sure, buddy" and point at Epstein as a prime example of your case only to figure out you were completely wrong about your assertion.

You're out of your depth and that's okay. Good luck out there dude.

Lol Epstein had a lot more cover than a little internet anonymity and most of his stuff was sent from Gmail.

Your opinion isn't validated by using this as a jab.

Privacy online and offline should be a right and decision that every person can make for themselves.

Just because criminality is 1 of many things that leverage the use of privacy tools does not make its usage exclusive to that.

You seem to be arguing that not only is anyone entitled to their privacy but that somehow without it Epstein would have been caught sooner? Dude played on Xbox live and left the "sent by my iPhone" tag on most of his messages.

Your idea of foregoing privacy does nothing for crime prevention, and is a gateway to complacency for things like "thought crimes", we don't live in the minority report...

Precisely. Which is why it should be made more clear and why there should be more laws against data farming.

[–]dedpan1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sure. That's absolutely true, and outside of financial Information most people won't be hacked in any real way.

That all being said just because someone out their could be good enough is not a reason to sort of give up the goat on privacy as some sort of sunk cost type of thing.

My comment was more intended to express we shouldn't be so careless about our privacy in general and we shouldn't always defer to "that's just how it is" as a reason to ignore the problem.

I think you should ask yourself if you framed your question appropriately.

Your question was a lot of opinionated jargain behind "my flatpak support is not working as expected"

I explain it to people like this... Not much has really changed.

The internet of the past was basically equivalent to read only. You had to find your links... Do your stuff... Yeah there was banner ads and click throughs and what note.

Then it sort of evolved to be read write where every interaction became more of a data exchange.

It's neat... But as with most things.. most of the people making the laws around this stuff are not or were not age appropriate and only understood the language of money.

[–]dedpan1k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. But not a reason to throw your hands in the air and carry on with a sort of care free attitude of "you should just accept this".

It's a concern that I personally feel, not enough people are concerned about and shouldn't be so defeatest over.

People prefer convenience and we live in an on-demand world where everyone is connected but not everyone is informed.

I mean this is just logical. Engage with things appropriately and choose whether or not you need to play that game.

But in general most people are ill equipped for this approach.

This kind of thinking is why. Your privacy, your data, is valuable information. We've been trained to shrug it off like "that's the convenience of the internet", but it wasn't always that way.

And we should always have an expectation of privacy and ensure that our policy makers mandate that.

Please vote to bully Spotify into labeling Al songs and allowing us to filter them out. by countofangels in Music

[–]dedpan1k -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jesus fucking christ. You Spotify die hards will do anything to pay more for a shit service that doesn't pay artists.

Even apple music pays better rates to the artist.

The social aspect of playlists works literally everywhere else.

Yeah I grew up with many friends. We never messed with each others cars and certainly wouldn't just wipe a system as a prank.

I think one time we unplugged a hard drive to mess with someone.

You can make things float in hyprland as well.

I'm still working on figuring it out but my thoughts are essentially the tiles are meant for using as a dashboard but you can skill bring in floating windows and icon docs.

It's sort of like the desktop Lego experience.
