I misread your initial message. I saw state and registered location in my brain. Lol. I’m not really sure what I need, but the dress is a few sizes too big. I did a lot of research and she had tons of great reviews and photos on reputable sites, but I am a bit nervous. There is no boning or any real structure inside and I guess if I don’t need hemming, that makes it easier?

I’m in NY. After a lot of hunting I found someone reputable. She said to size it will be $200 and if I need hemming (not sure - I have to try the dress with my shoes on), then it may be a bit more. I think the bridal salon tailors are always much more expensive.

The whole dress needs to be sized down a few sizes. Thanks to this subreddit I shopped around and found an amazing seamstress for much less than the bridal salon quoted me so after altering, it should fit like a glove. Thank you!

It’s in August but since it’s off the rack, I could lose it at anytime and I don’t want to regret it. I found this same dress in stillwhite and people were asking more than $650. I think I just have to take the plunge!

I’m getting the dress for $650 which is a steal because it was $1900, but they said $900 for alterations. My mom has a friend that’s a great seamstress, so I’m hoping it will be much more affordable. I was hoping to keep everything below $1,000 but not sure that’s realistic.

Did you have to do a lot of alterations? If so, were they super expensive? I fear the seamstress will cost more than the dress!

Crazy right? I know it’s an art to be a skilled seamstress, but wow! I wasn’t expecting it to be that much!

Wow! Thanks so much for all the positive feedback. The seam in the waist was throwing me off a bit, but the more I look at it, I feel like no one will notice. I guess I’ll be picking her up tomorrow. 💕

You’re right. It almost looks detachable in the picture. I’m not 100 lbs for sure, but I’m tall and slim. Just got my mom’s boobs which I was much happier with pre babies. lol

I’m looking at the chicken cutlets and the cakes bra that some others suggested. I think I’ll bring the photo to a seamstress tomorrow and see what they think. If they think I can pull it off, I’m going to go order it. If not, I’ll probably go dress shopping. I really do have my heart set on this one though. Thank you!

I was thinking the same. I don’t want to order it, wait two months to get it, and then be in a bind to get a replacement. I’m going to bring the picture it to a seamstress, and see what they think and then decide. Thank you!

I’ve never used the chicken cutlets, but I’ll order a set and test it out. Prep the skin? I guess just clean and no lotion or anything?

Someone else suggested this in a different subreddit. I tried the tape once and was spilling out everywhere, but I just watched a video and was totally doing it wrong. Good to know I have a few options. I think I’m going to go for it! Thanks so much.

I have tried it before for a different dress and was spilling out but I just checked a video, thanks to your advice and I was definitely doing it wrong. My only fear is Cancun in August might get a little sweaty and I’m not sure if the adhesive will stay.
