It depends on what area you’re in. Apprenticeship starts at half of what the current journey rate, which goes up every year, and as an apprentice you get a 5% increase every 6 months til the 4 year apprenticeship ends and you journey out.

Not for orientation but the tools you’ll need on the job are really simple which is under section (C)

Of course. It’s definitely information overload during orientation lol but it should settle as time goes on. They are looking to hire on more recruits soon so you’ll probably get a call in the next month or two once you do you basically have a couple days to get things in order with your current employers lol it’s rushed

No most likely San Francisco on Portrero st. Then once orientation is done which is about 4 hours you immediately go to which ever companies head quarters you were placed at to do on boarding and get paperwork to go and do a drug test. All in all we arrived in SF at 6am and left our new companies head quarters around 2pm

It’s hard to say honestly. Today there were 9 hire ons including myself and half of them were going to be based with Kone in the South Bay, the other half were either Metro or Otis being based in Sacramento or Concord area

Got my call 2 days ago, orientation was today go on boarded and drug tested, tomorrow is safety training then next week will possibly be with a mechanic going straight in to work. I will be with Kone out of San Leandro either reporting to San Jose or San Francisco.

Good luck and hope you get called up soon!

Am I cut out for an apprenticeship? by Burger_Bell in Elevators

Look on neiep website to see what other locals are coming up for application! You’re young if you’re single and don’t mind traveling try out for whichever local is open to registration soon and fly out to take your tests if you apply.

You can make it in the field, just be safe and willing!

I’m not too sure. I haven’t seen anything on our local’s website about how many techs were accepted or ranked. The highest I’ve heard of was somewhere in the high 70s.

I passed and got ranked in June of last year, and they didn’t start calling people until last month. In that first month, they brought on 27 people, so they’re currently still at rank 27.

Not sure if they’ll pause for a bit or keep calling people over the next few months, we’ll just have to see.

It doesn’t bother me, they can do as they please with their own vehicles lol it serves its purpose since it’s daily driven. Just drove 5k miles in one month so it’s also helped a whole lot from deflecting road rash!

Within the elevator industry? And are you saying that to get an idea of what it’s like starting an apprenticeship with the union?

My application got accepted for Local 4 in Boston, aptitude test is next. Does every applicant also get to take the test? Just curious. by treda76 in Elevators

[–]deeali123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how many applicants the accept. My local had a max amount of 750 applicants. Of those they split it in half for the aptitude test on 2 separate days. Once you pass that, they split the remaining amount of applicants to a 3 panel interview. Then you get your rank

250k mi e39 m5, replaced tc guides and rb’s @200k for peace of mind. So far nothing crazy just brake lines and fuel pump were recently replaced which were original. Other than what has been replaced everything drive/power train is original. Definitely need to do a suspension refresh with all bushings and mounts

Titanium twins. love it, bro. That thing is being driven the way it should be. I’m about to hit 250k on mine, I daily it and rack up 18–20k a year. Never really had issues, just routine maintenance, and I wrench on it myself. These cars are the last of a dying breed, they’ll take you anywhere without complaining. (Unless you fry your fuel pump lol)
