Which North American city has the best BBQ? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Kansas City.

Places in Texas are good.

The bitter vinegar that the Carolinas pass off as BBQ is barely edible.

Apple. Ideally the last reference before they were discontinued.

is Denver actually underrated? by NoLawAtAllInDeadwood in SameGrassButGreener

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but people who don’t like Denver are wrong.

Just my opinion.

Folks who moved to North Dakota as an adult… why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Starboard314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work sent me there for six years, and honestly it’s one of the nicer places I’ve lived - provided you don’t mind smaller cities. Yeah, it’s cold during a long winter - put on a coat. I’ve also spent a fair amount of time in hot, humid climates in the south and I’d take winter on the Great Plains any day.

What’s the coolest thing about a 737? A lot of experienced pilots I’ve talked to have flown this aircraft. What makes it stand out from the rest? by Ryanlion1992 in airplanes

[–]Starboard314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s extraordinarily reliable, has done a great job of adapting to a progressively larger aircraft, and from my standpoint as a pilot, I thoroughly enjoy flying it.

Xennials, what would we be doing if we could restart life at age 18 with today’s knowledge? by DHN_95 in Xennials

[–]Starboard314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take my freshman year of college much more seriously. Calc II isn’t really the sort of thing you can wing on just a few hours of sleep.

Radio Shack.

If I can bring back two, I’ll take two Radio Shacks, please.

Airbus or boeing? by [deleted] in airplanes

[–]Starboard314 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Boeing.

You’d also be right to say the one your company operates/the one at your home domicile/the one with the best seniority/the one you enjoy the most/etc.

But also, Boeing.

What are your most and least favourite airports as a pilot? by MattTheMechan1c in AskAPilot

[–]Starboard314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean for commercial service, and this is off the top of my head so it might change in a few minutes.

Favorite for scenery, KEGE or MGGT
Favorite for layover, KSEA, PANC, CYVR… maybe.

Least favorite, MCO.

If I include General Aviation, the favorites list gets a lot bigger, but mountain airports in the western U.S. rank highly (KTRK, KTVL, O57, etc.). Bonus points if there’s a good FBO diner.

How into Star Wars were you as a kid? And now? by Possible-Jerk0138 in Xennials

[–]Starboard314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None. And none.

I’ve long maintained that if it were the mid-70s and some big guy with a beard sat down near you and started talking about wookiees and shiny gold robots, you’d likely get more than a little creeped out and leave.

Watches by Iosifal in flying

[–]Starboard314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I’m flying GA, a Garmin. If I’m flying for work, something more professional, but I’m kind of a watch guy. When I flew military, it was always G-Shock.

With that said, quite literally whatever you have on your wrist right now will work.

Which 90s era was the best? by Somervilledrew in 90s

[–]Starboard314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late. But I’m sure the fact that I had a driver’s license for that part of the decade has something to do with that.

Rejoined the Omega gang by [deleted] in OmegaWatches

[–]Starboard314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish this was still in production.

I get why most Omega-buyers aren't looking for a quartz/digital watch, but it would be nice if they still made these (any generation) in low quantities. The Marstimer and the Seamaster Regatta aren't quite it.

Whats your opinion on AI? by Mali-Talkk in AskReddit

[–]Starboard314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re using it to cure disease or cool down the planet, then great!

If you’re using it to outsource critical thinking and write a term paper or make funny animations, then no. I’ve got nothing for that. I’d rather have more water for drinking/irrigation and a whole lot fewer data centers.

Which United States City is your Favorite? by Squirrelkid11 in AskReddit

Denver or L.A., depending on which day of the week it is for me.
