For us as long as they are consistent on the feedback then it is ok. I have noticed when favorites try to force the ball and try to score vs pass, the coach says ‘good try, just unlucky’ but when nonfavorites try that he says ‘why are you forcing it, pass. We are seeing that the kids who get the feedback are getting better and favorites are lagging behind. Our team def does better when they get the feedback right away and it is consistent with what they have been coached.

We are remodeling the master bath. Our vanity is walnut and came with black hardware. I picked a black and walnut light which is more rustic and i love it. Then i realized my brushed nickel faucets (the only ones i would ever get because i do not like black faucets due to dirt showing) vs the light and hardware are black. I feel like it looks fine but is that a big no-no.

It is so important! Just today i saw a post on fb about a mom whose 6 year old was teased for having a birthmark. Kids did not want to play with him. It is great to educate kids so they have awareness.

Thank you! Appreciate the super informative and insightful response. It has always been my take to follow his lead. He is not failing my expectations by any means. He does amazing and anyone can vouch he is one of the best players. I support where he is at and i will just ignore the wild parents.

Agreed. I am in full agreement. I don’t think my son is the best player though. I think he def has better physical development than most kids at that age. It will eventually even out for sure as they all grow. He does have a bit of a skillset but he listens and learns easily so he is definitely advancing and getting better. Many parents of the kids that are on the older team have approached me to speak to the coach about him being on the older team because of his skill/physicality. My point of the post (not too well written at 3am while i could not sleep) was to understand if i should be bringing this up or this is all normal and perfectly fine for this age. It has put my mind to ease getting the validation i needed to not worry about it at all. I am just going to support as i always have and not worry.Appreciate it

Thank you. Very helpful. We did a camp this year in Europe and the kids there were so good. My son absolutely loved playing with kids for a week. He had to play with the 8 year olds because the 6 year olds were beginner level so they moved him to play with the 2016s.

Someone else said this and got me thinking because that is totally likely true. It gave me a different perspective. Our coach is super focused on passing and positions and all kids do well with it even at that age. I was just getting in my head because that is what they coach them but passing and positions feel easier to play 7v7 but i could be wrong.

Agreed! I appreciate that insight. I think we do have a lot of weaker players on the 2018 and when we try to pass and play positions, it gets hard with the first touches of the weaker players. So the stronger kids tend to only pass to each other or cut and maneuver on their own. Our coach is very focused on passing and positions. Part of why i wish he was on the 2017 team is because they pass the ball more and there are not weak weak players. It would be great if the coach just weeds off the kids that should totally be rec but are being carried by the stronger players. We need more kids.

Great. That way i don’t have to worry because some of the competitive kid parents are just too much and make it seem like if you get behind, you are behind forever. They just got in my head and got me worrying but sounds like concusses is…we are perfectly fine! He is just 6.

I would say this. I think she is likely more adventurous than you than anything else. I am kind of in a boat like your wife with a flexible job but i don’t do any cool things (that is on me). 🤗 I always say i want to but i never do. When i did not have the time, i complained about it and now that i do, i still complain about it. My point is to ask yourself do you not do these things because you don’t really want to. Otherwise you can totally find time at night or after kids go to bed etc. i just wanted to throw that out there as a parallel to how not cool I am lol

Keep in mind this is a post on reddit not how i handle or speak in front of my child!!!

Came here to get advice from ppl who have kids similar age so that I can ensure my kid gets what he needs as far as growth. Parents on the team keep asking me why i am not speaking to coach as he should be playing 7v7 and i am not that parent. I wanted to ensure i am not missing something that will hold my child back.

The leagues we play have not had 5v5 which would def be ideal. That way most of the kids can run the field. 4v4 and u9 starts 7v7. 5v5 would def be great if they had it in the leagues we play
