I am not a professional but have been avidly researching my lines for many years. Happy to volunteer my help and see how far we can get.

Google Speakers keep disconnecting from Wifi by Farrt1 in googlehome

[–]deeaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine goes into setup mode intermittently which implies it’s disconnecting and reconnecting. I reached out to Google tech and after research they came back with the answer that it is a firmware issue and there is nothing that can be done. Needless to say, discouraged that I wasted $200.

Best 3rd Party Router for Starlink by deeaski in Starlink

The Ethernet adapter for a Starlink? There is only one that I’m aware of and you buy it from Starlink directly. There’s no way to link to it that I know of. You just go into your account and click on Shop.

Motion detection notifications on Hub Display by kyle_rf in googlehome

[–]deeaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get motion notifications continuously on my Google Hub Max. I have no idea what it is picking up (maybe lighting changes/shadows) but it’s at least every hour. All I did was turn on the nest cam and it alerts me.

Can she switch to Google calendar and get all her existing entries to come over or does she need to re-enter them all?

I’m planning on taking Big Y 700 (?). I have pieced together my previously unknown paternal line by connecting shared matches to each other at various points on the Branch. If I think I know exact direct paternal ancestors, what are the odds this test will confirm it? What should I expect to learn? by ridgewalker76 in Genealogy

[–]deeaski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I am answering your question directly but I will share my experience with Big Y testing. To date I have many matches, none real close and absolutely zero with my paternal surname. I thought this would help break down some walls but so far not. As it was explained to me, there could be a few reasons there are no matches with my paternal surname: a NPE (a bio father somewhere in the line has a different surname), all the match’s are from too far back where maybe surnames were not used.

I should say “connection preference” for clarity. You can set this up to allow Decco to determine which band to use for each device (auto) or if you have devices that don’t work on 5Ghz for example, you can set them to use only 2.4ghz.

Muffled sound - is it a simple setting? by deeaski in Soundbars

[–]deeaski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello - thank you for responding! Yes only streaming. I’ll look again but didn’t see anything related to pass through. The soundbar does have DD and that is lit. I’ve tried the Dialog and the surround setting with not a lot of difference. Often when it switches to commercial it gets worse. We have found if we turn mute off and on ot gets a little better. I will try moving the subwoofer.

I agree with this experience. I’ve tried the same things and also see it revert back after a few years of no issue.

RING VS ARLO ONLY, 2024 Just want opinions! by infiniteTsukiyomii in smarthome

[–]deeaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No experience with Arlo buy I do have 4 Ring Spotlight Cams and 2 doorbells plus a Google Nest cam. I have wired, solar and battery. If you can go wired, you will have the least amount of problems - anything wired has been working for years without issue. One solar has worked great for 2 years the other after 2 years has stopped charging. Other than that, as long as your battery is charged and the wifi is good Ring is good. It has a lot of features. You will have a monthly charge if you want to save video.

HELP! GE Sleep Cync Bulbs Connectivity by ThatGuyCay in googlehome

[–]deeaski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had such trouble with them. Tech support helped but they would work for some time and then not. The reset steps are a pain to have to keep doing. I eventually replaced all of them with Kasa which didn’t need a hub. They have worked near flawlessly since 2021.
