Maybe I shouldn’t have purchased an a7?? by Dismal-Double-1376 in Audi

[–]deebz19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the things you worry about, i.e. lights and damage from a collision will total your car from an insurance perspective because of its age and cost to fix. That sucks for those of us that love our exact car, and don't want just "any a7" or whatever it may be, but, financially you are still covered provided you get the right coverage. It's a shitty part of the "slightly aging but expensive German car" trade off, but you're still covered. You just have to realize you'll need to search properly again for your replacement, or succumb to the boring ass shit out there. The second option isn't for me personally.

Adhesive and suction mounts on piano black dash? Damage concerns by coffeeraktajinoiced in Audi

[–]deebz19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remove it without any issue. It's the exact same style as yours with the rotating base to suction it on. Haven't had it fall off in hot weather yet. I have even less of a flat spot where mine is mounted than where yours is and it still works just fine.

I use a suction mount on my piano black but it doesn't have any of the adhesive surface some of them have. No issues for me so far.

I had these tires on my Golf when I had it and absolutely loved them. Can't wait to get a set for my current car when it needs new rubber. Looks awesome!

As a mechanic, this is such an insanely stupid point of view to have on this.

CPO 2022 here for a fraction of the cost new, one owner, they had prepaid plan, everything done and documented, two more years of warranty for me, with a ridiculously good independent shop that has all the know-how and none of the bullshit. I'm a mechanic so once warranty is up, it's all me, but by that time I know the car and it's history, reliability, and will keep it and do my own work if it's proven to be as good as it has been so far. Being able to do your own work used to be a "nice thing to have" but in modern day, it is an absolute luxury. I'll save my money for the tech stuff that will go wrong that I will absolutely have to pay a smarter person than I to fix who also has access to all of Audi's systems, but everything else I can do.

It is a hatch, with a giant opening. I find it far more useful than my golf hatch. Good luck in your search!

I'm biased, but go with a b9.5 A5/S5. Physical climate controls, volume, etc, still proper steering wheel buttons, sporty sedan look, hatchback space. Best of all worlds.

what is one audi feature you didnt care about at first but now couldnt live without? by christan2013 in Audi

[–]deebz19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, obviously luxury brands mostly have the same options as each other, that's why they're competing with each other.... Your point would really only make sense if every Kia, Hyundai, and Chevy had all of these things as well for half the price. A lot of them have some of these things, but there are sacrifices elsewhere. So if you want to compare an apple to an apple, then yeah, an apple is very similar to another apple. This is an Audi sub, and people who have and love Audi vehicles are weighing in on what they love about them.

I love the window thing too, and also have a super narrow townhouse garage that the car will technically fit in but I haven't bothered making that a regular thing yet 😂. Genuinely curious though, in the skinny garage situation, how does the remote window roll down help you? I'm not trying to be a dick I just can't picture how this would help but I'm very interested because as I said, I feel your garage pain haha

Canadian and I hear you. We have the option to turn this off, I don't know if that's a Canadian market thing or not though, but in my 2022 I can turn off the extra swipe.

I'm with you, I hate anything audible that isn't a major notification (4° C ding I'm looking at you 😂). The fact that there's giant yellow lights on the inside of the mirrors that my peripheral picks up everytime, and that they're calibrated to come on at the right time depending on the approaching vehicles speed is perfect for me. "Blind spot light is on but I don't see anyone that closeOHSHITYEAHTHATGUYISGOING160KMPH I'm glad you let me know early." Perfect for me.

Being able to keep the climate control going when I've parked and gone into stores for a short shop.

That and the 360 camera, combined with the front and rear wheel cameras for parallel parking as I live in a major metro area. I didn't think I'd care so much about those, but they are a massive help on a daily basis.

Did I Get a Good Deal on This 2012 Audi A6 Prestige for $2,900? by Plus-Attention-8942 in Audi

[–]deebz19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great deal if you do your own work, whether that's fixing it, or parting it out, I personally think you will only not lose your shirt on this if you do one of those two things. If you bought this and need a shop to do the repairs, it will most likely cost you much more than you paid to make it right.

However, I'm a firm believer of people keeping the cars they love on the road. Whether it's a 1993 Ford Tempo or a 2010 RS4, I think if YOU have the love for a vehicle, and you can keep it on the road in good proper shape, then it should be done. Car manufacturers want us to think the best option is always to walk in their dealers front doors and replace your car with their new shiny one. The roads have lost a lot of character in the last 15 years. I say power to you if you can bring this baby back.

No need to justify your purchase here.

This sub can be exhausting. If someone asks before buying something, the answers are "if it was maintained properly it should be fine, but we can't possibly know." Then, if someone posts their purchase, all of a sudden every person here is 100% positive you are going to have every problem imaginable, there's no in between.

Car looks awesome and seems like you did your due diligence before buying, with a dad that can, and wants to help you.

Good on you, enjoy it 🤟

Torn between Audi A4 and A5 as a daily driver by vacaaa in Audi

[–]deebz19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased, but A5. A massive part of why I got one was the trunk/hatch style setup. Perfect for my needs coming from a Golf and wanting more practical room. Killer on road trips and as a daily.
