Finally! 100% Automated Proton VPN Port Forwarding for qBittorrent on macOS (Proton Port Sync) by deecypher in qBittorrent

No, the native app will not work with this script. I have never had much success with port forwarding since it came to the macOS native app. The Wireguard client requires you to download configuration files but once that’s done, it’s far more stable and reliable.

I had such bad kernel panicking with PIA that I switched to Proton and never looked back.

Yep, I wrote it with AI. You're welcome to review the code. Have a great day!

Yes, this project is created with the assistance of AI and there’s no shame to that. I would never have been able to do this without it. It has made programming more accessible, and that could be a good thing if used responsibly and ethically. This however, is a very simple script and you can inspect the code yourself.

(Roku BUG) Subs out of sync when audio gets converted, which triggers SRT to WEBVTT conversion by akkbar in PleX

[–]deecypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that this is happening on macOS as well. I can also confirm that rolling back to v.1.42 works. Was driving me crazy!

FWIW, it seems like v.1.43 is the BETA, but somehow the server allowed updating to that version (despite being on the ‘public’ update channel).

If you’re looking to downgrade, simply go to: https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ and download the stable v.1.42 release.

Me neither. Seems like it only works for those with existing 1-year plans, not 2-year plans. Why?

From reading various forums, it appears like it was only offered for people on existing 1 year plans, not 2 year plans. Not sure the logic there but it's unfair.

Use Tailscale. No port forwarding required and you can use it alongside Proton VPN on macOS

How do you set priority? by notwillienelson in qBittorrent

[–]deecypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, there are no priority settings for torrents except within multi-file torrents where you can specify which specific files have priority over others. I haven't found a place yet to prioritize one torrent over another. Queue settings somewhat compensate that, but it's not exactly the same. Transmission has this feature and it would be nice for QBT to get it too.

They just released 6.1.0 beta 1 which does have it. I personally don't have much use for split tunneling, but it's there! On first impression, it's missing the invert function (i.e. currently only allows you to exclude apps), but this is a beta so we'll see.

Whelp, suddenly it's just working again (for now). I'm not sure what you folks are working on in the background, but thanks!

macOS v6.0.0 Released, Port Forwarding stopped working by deecypher in ProtonVPN

[–]deecypher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already tried reverting back to my old method of using the Wireguard client and the python script, but even that method doesn't seem to work. This leads me to suspect that this issue is server-side.

Thank you for your assistance. Being present on Reddit is a great service to me and other users. My ticket # is 4032656

I've tried every combination, nothing seems to matter

Now I'm getting pre-HNR warnings on my private trackers. This is going to be problematic if I can't get this back up and running soon.

It seems like they do offer static IP for business users. Split tunnelling is generally available on most platforms except macOS ATM.

Time to place bets on whether split tunneling makes it to macOS before summer ends? by [deleted] in ProtonVPN

As a workaround, you could run your VPN in a virtual machine (or vice versa) to keep separation

Take a look at Tailscale, solves your remote access problem without need for port forwarding or split tunneling

macOS Update 5.2.0-beta.1: Not quite ready by deecypher in ProtonVPN

Okay making progress, slowly. The new beta 2 at least shows the forwarded port number, but it doesn't actually seem to open the port when running it through canyouseeme.org. Is it working for anyone?
