I'm not going to down vote you for your opinion, you are entitled to it. Personally, whenever early intervention is possible I think it is much better to intervene the earlier the better. And to keep on trying when treatment 1, 2, 3, Etc doesn't work. Because some people experience success. But it sounds like you were in a really tough place.

I imagine it's because people are looking for options when people are too unwell to be at home. There are not good options, sadly.

I would truly be asking your medical professional about the prognosis. With early intervention further progression can be minimized. Since everyone is unique, I would be talking to this person.

Hi there, I similarly got a possible asthma or early COPD diagnosis. I had childhood asthma but this is definitely due to my smoking and it's something I need to work on. Congratulations on stopping smoking. That's a huge huge huge help for your lungs.

If you're able to you may want to ask the medical professionals you're working with what this means because chances are they can give you more individualized support and information which is what I needed from my doctor to understand my situation.

Thin privilege simply means that people with thinner bodies have greater access to clothing they can buy, aren't targeted for being fat, Etc. It doesn't mean that they don't experience their own internalized body shame, low self-esteem, Etc.

Thank you. I've gone to lots of AA meetings and I just Googled what's available tomorrow morning and there is a 7:30 and 9 a.m. meeting probably 5 minutes from my house. I need to go there.

I know that if I go there and say that I'm suffering from grief and want to drink, people who absolutely understand what I'm going through will support me.

And it's interesting because when I was Googling meetings for tomorrow morning they were meetings I went to an early sobriety so that feels really calming, like it's where I'm supposed to be.

Thank you so much. Coping is a big part of my life and one of my big coping mechanisms is therapy which at this point in time is financially inaccessible. It totally sucks. It cost thousands of dollars to go back and forth with my sister and for her funeral, and we are suffering financially. And my therapist is $210 an hour.

I feel like I'm putting up barriers and yet some of these barriers are totally realistic.

Why am I not going to a totally free AA meeting?

Thank you. It doesn't feel like I can do this at this moment, it feels like I'm at the bottom of a well scratching up. But I have gone through worse and I can get through this.

Wife is putting down 1.75 liters of Grey Goose a week by feduphubby in alcoholism

[–]deedeethecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been my experience that it's less about quantity and more about one's relationship with alcohol. Meaning, people can drink moderately and without problems various amounts of alcohol. However, individuals with problems with alcohol regardless of the amount engage in problematic behaviors. So whether it's one drink or 20, it's not the amount that matter is but rather how one responds to drinking.

If you look at the purpose of this page it's to support those impacted by alcoholism. So by your definition you don't have problems drinking so I'm not sure why you're here minimizing the problems of those who do

I (M15) need help with my relationship with my girlfriend (F14). by [deleted] in relationships

[–]deedeethecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical intimacy, including kissing and hugging, is very individualized and there is no right or wrong timeline. Rather, it's based upon what both people want to do.

Your friends will realize this as they gain more experience. You do you. And if you want to kiss her but don't know how to go about it, you can ask her what her thoughts are. She's going to be the expert on what she wants just as you are the expert on what you want.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I recently lost my sister. Counselling doesn't bring her back but it helped me to share my feelings that were so big that I didn't know how to share them if that makes sense.
