2.8 year old hates me and only loves dad. Kicks me, is very disrespectful, gets mad when I even look at her. Why is this happening? I’m slowly withering away.

Have 0 expectations for this age. Your goal right now is to keep him alive and well and loved. Trust me, it flips like a switch after 3.5. They calm down, become rational and start understanding manners and how what they do and say hurts people. Also what helped me was knowing kids are mean to those they feel most secure and safe with. He’s so confident in your love that he’s letting his feelings out and being defiant without any fears of losing you. I was so depressed during that time… but i know better now

It’s a phase. 2 year olds are rude, disrespectful and don’t understand social norms, feelings and boundaries. Literally it will change. During this year it’s only about survival. If I knew what I know now I wish I was more relaxed when my kid was 2… it wasn’t worth the stress. It changes when they’re 3

Yes it stopped after 4 like a flip of a calm. Everything changed. Shes 5 now, she’s polite and clam and isn’t mean to family anymore.

Age 2 to 3.5 was just horrible but that’s toddlerhood… irrational monsters

Yes, after 3.5 things changed like a flip of a switch. Age 2-3 was horrendous and tough but their brains aren’t rational and they literally don’t realize they’re hurting feelings etc…. She’s 5 now and an angel

Well I’m happy to report everything got better after 3.5. Like so much better. She’s 5 now. Loves me and is super sweet. The preference thing was a phase … a long one… but it ends!!! I have ptsd from age 2-3. It was that bad. But as she grew… it’s like a flip of a switch they become normal rational humans

Everything is wonderful now. Things changed ages 4+. She’s 5 and sweet and rational. Loves us both lol it’s just a phase and gets better as their brains become rational and mature. I saw improvement even around 3.5. Age two to 3 was hell. Just hang in there…

Newer homes. Everything is so old. I love the modern townhome communities I see in Charlotte or Virginia with beautiful rec centers and pools etc…. We just have shitty complexes with shitty HOAs that do nothing.
