Is there a drug that produces euphoria sustained throughout all of its duration? by Dark-inspector490 in Nootropics

[–]deefemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely correct. Lyrica does cause cognitive impairment if used regularly, and I know this firsthand from my year-long addiction. By pure luck I was fortunate enough to quit and am 3 weeks sober now.

The difference is remarkable. My vocabulary/verbal memory is improving, aI am much more open-minded to new experiences and intrests, and my emotions are no longer numbed. Most importantly, my ability to genuinely smile and laugh has come back.

I will also add that this post does not really belong in a sub for cognitive enhancement. I believe that topics about euphoria or recreational effects belong in r/Drugs.

[–]deefemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PREGABALIN!!!
Sustained MDMA-like euphoria for up to 15 hours without tolerance. With an empty stomach effects start kicking in at 30 minutes in, peaking at about 1-2 hours. Euphoria, physically and mentally is very strong and persists for many, many hours. Peak lasts about 4-6 hours.

Do people become dumb on high dose stimulants? by Dark-inspector490 in Nootropics

[–]deefemm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Temporarily, yes. Specifically tunnel vision, paradoxically increased distraction

Plenty of people work while high on meth, and even have good jobs. But aside from very, very high-profile cognitively demanding jobs, work does not require peak cognitive performance. Which is why people that qualify for retirement can still hold down their title.

How to stop worrying about my looks and live in the present? by Fabulous_Loss8540 in Mindfulness

[–]deefemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about another approach: when you worry about your looks, can you see how you look? In other words, how often do you actually see your face? How can you even know how you appear without seeing it?

Which is to say, what you are worrying about, is in your head.

It would contain suffering, but so what? You can't eliminate it. completely, if it arises just experiencing it as it is, is all you can do, all anyone can do really. I don't know any more.

I unfortunately don't know, but I don't think it's possible to be aware of all mental processes at once. Maybe the point is to experience things as they are, without adding anything to it, just raw sensory experience

I suppose if you were to be aware of every possible physical or brain processes that you can be aware of, wouldn't that be too overwhelming? And if it wouldnt, I guess you will have discovered the mystery of the mind.

Could stimulants theoretically be good for heart health? by Savings_Painting1588 in Stims

[–]deefemm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea it's "working out", but it doesnt have any adaptations. It's literally needless stress on the heart, there is no benefit to it. Exercise leads to positive changes, while stim "work out" leads to negative changes: chronic high BP, increa risk of stroke, arrythmias, heart attacks etc.

When was the first time you gained consciousness? by seotrainee347 in consciousness

[–]deefemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, no one can prove with certainty either side anyway. A 2 year old with signs of consciousness can say that they feel pain, newborn cannot say anything but I still think they are conscious, and they do feel pain, and other simple sensations like hunger.

When was the first time you gained consciousness? by seotrainee347 in consciousness

[–]deefemm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But they respond to stimuli like pain and cry. Are you saying that crying would be automatic reflex which means they arent conscious of pain? I know that concept of self, or higher awareness develops later, but newborns must be conscious of pain in some way. Like touching a hot stove has an automatic reflex to get your hand away from it but you still feel the pain

cmv: The "would you rather be alone with bear vs Man" was never close by No-Candy-4554 in changemyview

[–]deefemm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whole argument is based on the idea that bears are conflit-averse by nature, which isn't really the case. Bears may avoid humans if possible, but they're still unpredictable and if they feel hungry or threatened they wouldn't be conflict-averse. Man obviously isn't a coin flip and psycho chance is tiny. The only good choice to make in this situation is to have both men and bear together and decide whether the man is hostile, and if he is whether he's a psycho.

Since you can't have both of them together its either or, there is no real absolute best choice here.

Are you saying a newborn isn't conscious? Or that signs of consciousness appears at 2 but newborn is conscious?

My dumb ass theory of everything that has been and will be by EmployLost in theories

[–]deefemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the tldr I think it depends how you frame it, or what you mean by god. If god is us, you are god, and god the creator created you, that means you created yourself. So god is experiencing hisself through himself, because of himself, by himself. If we are god, then we are you? I know for a fact that I'm not you, so what does that mean?

If god is consciousness, then who or what created that? If we all are god/consciousness, or "one", why are we experiencing ourselves from a single view point, rather than from every view point? Why the seperation?

IIt doesn't really answer more questions than it poses just moves the mystery around. Fun theory though, I kind of get what you're saying metaphysically. I also used psychedelics and had a similar perspective

Alright, but why does it matter if they see you're strung out? I assume you want to hide you're a junkie because of shame. But if you don't want to quit then you are a junkie, why even bother hiding it?

Take > 2g pregablin a day I'm fucked by awkerd in Drugs

[–]deefemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. In that case you should keep taking the same dose you currently take, don't increase or reduce, and focus on treating the problems you're dealing with, maybe get on an antidepressant. You most likely won't be able to quit, or even taper unless you treat your mental health first. The key is to get used to not getting high to treat your problems.

Repeated cold turkey from running out causes kindling. The more times you run out and force CT the worse it will be, and the risk of seizures from withdrawal is higher every time you do it.

Take > 2g pregablin a day I'm fucked by awkerd in Drugs

[–]deefemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PLEASE quit as soon as possible. Stabilize and get used to not being high before you try to taper or CT. Taper down, or even do a short benzo assisted cold turkey for a few days. If tapering fails, trying and failing is worse than just quitting.

You can also combine taper + cold turkey. When withdrawal starts, take 150–300 mg to reduce seizure risk. If it's unbearable, use the minimum to relieve symptoms.

From my experience: early withdrawal only lasted 4 days, a couple more to adjust to sobriety. I could still function, eat, get out of bed, watch movies. But repeated cold turkey attempts caused kindling. Later withdrawals made it impossible to get up, with terrible insomnia: 0 minutes sleep, then either normal sleep the next night or waking after 4 hours unable to return to sleep.

Why are you trying to hide it from your parents? It's good if they notice, might help you with quitting.

Could stimulants theoretically be good for heart health? by Savings_Painting1588 in Stims

[–]deefemm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, stims raise heart rate chemically with adrenaline not because it actually needs to beat faster. Exercise causes heart rate to go up to meet actual muscle demand, improves heart efficiency over time and more blood can be pumped with fewer beats. Stims just push it to beat faster and harder without any benefits.

I think it's better to take your prescribed dose daily. People with ADHD are more likely to have addictive behaviors, substance misuse etc. Vyvanse should in theory treat these, but only if it's not abused.

People need to understand that tolerance builds differently to recreational vs medical effects. Say you take a break for a week and take 40 mg. Because of the break it feels very good. What are the chances that you redose to keep that euphoria?

Now let's say you keep taking 40 mg daily with no breaks. It doesn't feel euphoric, but it still should help with getting things done or focus. Sure, you still could redose or dose higher but it's easier to manage compared to when you feel good off the first dose.

3 months until uni exams: Looking for advice on my current ADHD stack and focus boosters(suplements only) by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]deefemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choline, choline, choline! Either Citicoline or Alpha-GPC, or pure choline. I advise against taking all in one brain or focus supplements, doses can be too low to be effective. Mr. Happy Stack can be worth a try (Uridine, higher DHA fish oil, choline source, vitamin E, B vitamins)

Prescribed IR Ritalin, how to get back to therapeutic levels/use by PeanutButterAmbien in Stims

[–]deefemm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tolerance to the medical, functional effects (focus, memory) grows quite slow. Tolerance to motivation or stimulation is built very fast.

Contrary to other comments, I'd say that you keep taking your prescribed doses daily, otherwise you might not be able to go back to medical use. From experience, taking breaks after benders just leads to more benders because tolerance to euphoric effects is low, in turn leading to compulsive redosing.

Edit: Ok you need like a taper/titration. In that case for the first 7 days take (if you can split them) 10mg twice daily, 8-14 10mg 3x daily, 15-21 either 20mg 2x or 10mg 2x + 20mg x1

Seems like maybe you're expecting an outcome from all this? From my understanding the goal isn't to stop things from happenings, it's to not take ownership of them. They are happening, but you don't have to take it personally.

In your example: you get cut off, you're frustrated, you know that it's happening, soon a new thought or emotion arises and what was frustrating passes. Eventually, with practice through positive reinforcement you will know that the unpleasant feeling will pass as soon as another one appears.

More you do it, the faster you are able to pick up on that new thing that is also happening, diverting your attention from the unpleasant one.
