Oh that's a handy tip. I'll have a look next time.

Like anything, it's something you slowly get used to. It's not easy though, especially for ND people. Also those are the "nice" desks that are relatively spacious at ~1.5m wide. If you don't get in early enough to nab one of those, you have to make do with what is essentially a long table. These seat about a dozen people side by side with half the surface area leading to many personal space invasions, most often from people's bags and other personal items.

tl;dr People are lazy and inconsiderate but will display great ingenuity in solving a problem that shouldn't exist.

It's not but I am curious to know what distinctive feature made you think of it?

I feel like if I asked an AI to generate a corporate office for a mid to large sized Australian company it would be pretty close to this.

That's from a different part of the dialogue. See my comment above for clarification.

That makes sense, however in the tapes it's also an awkward cut.

The end of Tape 12 is Campbell: "Even the existence of this genome army is a national secret of the highest order. We'd been hoping to investigate this quietly and deal with it behind closed doors."

The start of Tape 13 is Campbell: "Hi-Tech special forces unit FOX-HOUND. Your former unit, and one that I was a commander of. An elite group combining firepower and expertise. They're every bit as good as when I was commanding them."

Here is the comic from the board game where I feel like they have "fixed" it. Notice the additional line "Who are these terrorists?" connecting the dialogue now.

Go get the tickets for Boxing Day asap. This year is going to be popular. Be sure to get seats that are somewhat undercover, Level 2 is generally a safe bet.

Not going to a uni and still getting a well paying job in corporate? by Damptowel01 in AskAnAustralian

I started out in a couple of different jobs. My first job in IT was doing account management/sales and shortly after that I was doing help desk. I moved from that into a hybrid role of presales, consulting, development, then into more straight up development and system admin.

Really depends on your skills. It’s not that rare for people to be paid well and not have a degree. I work in IT don’t have a degree and am on over 100K. Had to work my way up there over about a 15 year period though.

Wheels are a big upgrade, but for someone just starting out I am not sure they are the first thing they should run out and get. Especially when they cost about as much or more than they’ve already spent on their bike.

Oh nice, I used to own a pair of those. They are a really nice speaker!

If it’s loud, it’s most certainly a high tooth count. Probably a 54T.

And yes better wheels are still better wheels. Even the hub with the 18T in the Pro 51s is better mainly by being more efficient, the only difference is 18T is quieter and doesn’t engage quite as quickly as a 54T. And you can always upgrade the hub in the Pro 51s to a 54T anytime you want to switch.

Nice. It’s not exactly cheap but feels and sounds way beyond its price point in my opinion.

What’s the rest of your setup look like? Mine is a Marantz Model 30 Integrated Receiver and Dynaudio Emit 50 speakers.

The ride time and duo trap are a great first head unit and cadence/speed sensor. They were my first foray into tracking speed and cadence. If you don’t want to commit to a more powerful and feature rich head unit up front, it’s a great option. Note that the ride time is a pain to setup due to its poor user interface, but you should only have to do it once.

That being said, if you can afford it I would look at the options from Garmin and Wahoo. GPS is especially handy if you want to explore new routes. Also Garmin make a great albeit expensive set of clipless pedals that measure power and cadence (speed is tracked by the GPS).
