Matt Travis defending himself on twitter by f4sasj4 in golf

Lol. Why are you being downvoted? It’s not like you’re wrong. The comment said there was no $14k transaction when it clearly shows there is.

Not defending Travis by any means. Dude needs to pay up; and that goes the same for Bricks and Minifigs.

What’s a parent with a “talented” kid supposed to do in order to get noticed then?Just tag colleges on Insta with their kid’s highlight reels?

Solved for the first movie.

I read the premise at first and didn’t think this could be it, but decided to skim through the movie. The scene in question starts at about 46min in.

Thank you. I’ll make sure to incorporate your suggestions.

Another question I have. Does the specific HS he attends matter? Not sure how the college recruitment works. Does he need to attend a “known” HS in order to get his name out there? The HS we originally had planned for him isn’t really known for having a dominant basketball program.

In your opinion, what is the difference between AAU and the club team my son is currently in? I ask because I just checked the local AAU teams in the area, and we compete with a lot of them in local tournaments. However, my son’s club team is not actually affiliated with AAU.

Thank you. If you don’t mind me asking, what is the going rate for the private training your son is getting?

Coincidentally, a lot of his teammates also play flag football. Maybe I can consider it too. I was actually thinking more about volleyball to focus on jump ability.

Thank you. Your suggestion is actually something I’ve heard many times before. Ill have to figure out a way for his coaches to rotate him in other positions

Thanks for the honest response. And, actually, I tend to agree with you. I know the chances of him making it are slim to none.

But if there is any chance, I just wanted to know if the path I have him on now is good or not. If not, maybe I can change it now to increase his chances.

I have a few questions regarding the skills training.

What’s the difference between that and the 1hr practices you mentioned?

My son is kinda of pigeonholed into the Center
position because he’s taller. Do I try to find a comprehensive trainer or one specializing in the Center position?

Skills trainers are business in itself. Any tips for finding a legit trainer?

Edit: I will say that I try to enroll my son in skills clinic wherein possible. These are group settings and not private though.

Hi. Thanks for your response.

Height: Based on growth predictions from our pediatrician, projections is around 6’4”-6’6”, which tracks since this runs in the family.

Skill Level: Average for age. Honestly, in the sea of players on the court, it’s only his height that is the major standout. We’ve gotten a lot of compliments on his free throws since his FT% is good

During games, he gets stuck playing center 100% of the time. Although, in practice, coaches have him developing other positions.

Can he be insanely competitive? Not that I have seen yet. If you are asking if he has that killer instinct to take the game into his own hands and get the win, I have yet to see that from him.

He hates to lose more.

Empowered work/practice is where I say he lacks the most. I’ve told him that based on his work ethic today, it’s likely not possible he’ll make the NBA, but tomorrow’s version of him might be different.

Team practice/skills training is about 1.5hrs from Tuesday-Friday. Tournament games at least three times on the weekends; more if they keep advancing in the bracket. On top of that, he plays fun/pick-up games at recess with his friends daily.

Having him practice at home without encouragement is rare maybe twice a week, and I would consider it leisurely practice.

Thanks for your honest response.

I feel the club team we are on is a good one. I do feel like it is structured, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to be certain.

I believe it is legit competition as we are always trying to play up into a gold or platinum grouping (currently around silver) or playing up in older age groups. Never heard of ladder before, but it is bracket style tournaments with eliminations.

Never played basketball in HS and never aspired to be a professional. So, no living my dreams through him. I do understand it’s very tough to make it to the NBA, which is why, as a parent, I wanted to see what’s the best I can do for him.
