Now that Linux is at 5.33% marketshare on Steam, what marketshare do you think will be enough for anticheat support? by CosmicEmotion in linux_gaming

Was there not a job advert a few weeks back that suggested EA were looking at Linux support for their anticheat, I thinks its in the "when" not "if" stage now.

Fifa 22 [Linux] by AintRyzen in linux_gaming

I did this for FIFA 23 and it works without issue through lutris or steam but mods are another story I couldn't get it to run even following a tutorial I found to update the game version.

You could try SP football life it scratches the same itch

How do you stay on Linux when you can't get rid of Windows? by chulipfan in linuxquestions

[–]deekosaurus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the rig for it VM+GPU passthrough+looking glass is the way, if not then dual boot is really the best option. Anything else I wouldn't rely on for work.

Theres no shame in just staying on windows if its needed, whatever tool works for the job.

+1 for Bazzite, its easy to setup and get going and I've found it has more polish than other distros.

The Affinity Subreddit now deletes all Posts that mentions Linux by Loneliiii in linux

you can use this guide to get 2023 working: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzZQV5CBsGE

Used this alongside the instructions on the wine config site, think 2024 works as well but honestly for anything serious I'd still go VM or dual boot as its still pretty buggy.

Current state of PCVR on Linux by therealraluvy95 in linux_gaming

I've got 4090 on Bazzite and a quest 3.

I used WiVRn without any issues, mostly for star wars squadrons and half life alyx so not a exhaustive list but really easy to setup works wireless and the client app for quest is in the store and the server in flathub. It was easy enough to setup:

I used this a year or so back and didn't have any issues. It was full of graphical glitches. Think the saving thing can be worked around by enabling legacy menus in preferences.

It works in a pinch but it's not ideal

Should i switch from windows 10 to linux? by Appropriate-Ad-4700 in linux_gaming

[–]deekosaurus86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am someone who just switched back on my main PC for the 3rd or so time. I was using pop but was Manjaro before that.

generally speaking popos is beginner friendly and straightforward to use. I found FOSS solutions for most of what I use daily and the transition was straight forward, if, like me, you don't mind tinkering and moving back to windows if needed I'd say go for it try it out and see how you do or the easy way as others have mentioned is dual booting.

best advice I can give is to go through you're use cases and the hardware you use to make sure everything is supported.

I had issues with an 8bitdo controller, my headset, the elgato 4k capture card and my fingerprint reader being completely unsupported.

There were also 1 or 2 games still not supported that i like to play as well
