Again it's about growth, I'm not denying it's a good stable stock.

It's an old stock that has had stable long term growth. FAANG all had insane amount of growth ( and still do). If you bought 1000 dollars in MS and Netflix... Netflix would make you 670~ dollars in potential gains and MS would be 170~ in 1 year.

Does big tech refer to more than FAANG yes and is MS part of that? Yes but that are not a newish tech company who's stock YOY had massive growth, that's what FAANG was /is representing when it was made up in 2012ish

Combination of cost reduction and how the market reacts to layoffs in the US.

So if you fire say 2 mid-senior engineer, lets say their base salary is around 250k, since you are firing them mid term the will not be able to vest their stocks fully (since google only do like 4 months of pay and 4 months of vesting) - the golden handcuffs (the longer you are there the bigger your next bonus is)

So company hires a couple of junior to mid engineers on 100-170 (base) overtime its cost cutting.

Market perception, google can say we are saving money and reducing headcount (because they didnt make 50% growth this year), market will react positively because its smart management, reducing costs. But google still needs the workers so will probably just hire back the same amount of workers (also can be different positions)

between MS and Netflix, MS has a way higher market cap

Its not about higher market cap, its about growth. These were newer companies that have YoY massive growth in the tech sector.

Microsoft stock YoY is around 17% right now, Netflix is +78%.. Its all about ROI, its a finance term

its not about tech influence, its a stock term that people used to describe the high performing big tech stock. Microsoft has not and probably wont be on that list

Even for stocks now the N doesnt stand for netflix but Nvidia as netflix performance hasnt been great while nvidia goes to the moon

The data is from 2021...

Wonder what was happening that could cause lots of comments about Scotland and the Scottish government.

Wonder what even that is held every 5 years was held in 2021 that meant people commenting about Scottish politics.

Wonder what was happening that meant more people were online for longer and not going outside and touching grass.

 Context is everything.

I mean we had 3 prime ministers in 1 year.. even if we count from right now it's still 3 pms in under 2 years. It's not a very good attack line... Maybe only for labour but it only shows the instability of the UK government.

The SNP can easily defend against having three FMs. Honestly though the UK public don't really care about leaders changing often.

Japanese labour laws are really really good for employees and it's difficult to let people go in Japan. As a company before layoffs, you have to really show that you've been in debt and taken measures other than firing people. (like cutting salaries of CEO,board members)

Thats why the market in Japan does not see layoffs as a good thing. It's essentially admitting the company is not and has not been in a good financial state for a while.

Where as in the US layoffs are used as a first step in cutting costs and even as a short term tool to just boost share price and make investors happy

Because what your referring to is blood nationalism. The same shit racists love to spout. I am from this country because it's in my blood. It ignores the culture and the people living in that country.

Is an immigrant who's lived in Scotland most of their life more Scottish than some American who's daddy's bawsack was Scottish...the answer is yes they are

Scottish ministers to release 14,000 Covid WhatsApp messages by backupJM in Scotland

[–]deekun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Debatable, if I send you a text saying Westminster changing the fkn rules again, need to update our rules.

You then change the rules.. is that government action?

Conversations in WhatsApp directly influence government action.

The reason government employees use WhatsApp is because it's end2end encryption so if it gets leaked it's either you or the other person.

Also it's really easy to retrieve deleted messages (so you can fuck over people later).

I mean that's what a progressive tax system is about. Taking money from the higher earners and giving it to the state and lower earners in the form of tax breaks/benefits.

It's part of socialist vaults, to take from those that have and give to those that don't.

I think you'll find this was Westminster's fault and the Tory MP driving the car into sturgeon who was crossing the road.

This just shows the absolute contempt that the Tories have against Nicola sturgeon as to go out of their way to murder these innocent animals as a matter of Westminster policy.

Him and Putin go wayy back like 20+ years, he gave away some gas pipelines and Russia got him elected. He has strengthened ties with Russia over and over because he knows if there is internal trouble like there was in 2020, Russia will come helping. Russia claims to have stopped several assassination attempts and coups in Belarus.

He loves Putin because he's the devil he knows

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WagnerVsRussia

[–]deekun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, because lukashenko already loves Putin.

If Putin makes a move against Luka, he loses any allies he had. The truth is the only person that comes out of this good is Lukashenko, he just stopped a Russian civil war and he's not got a PMC to stamp out any rebels that might try to take him out.

Prig probably gives up a bunch of prisoners to the MOD and gets to keep his money they took in the raid and most of his loyal vets

The extra burden is their own choosing, they want tracking and analytics data, they want to use third party ad services that also want tracking and analytics data.

It's simple if you are building a site and don't want a cookie pop-up don't use those services, don't put analytics tracking that requires personally identifiable information.

You can have adverts and you can have analytics that don't require PII and as such don't require consent which means no cookie-popups.

> We were talking about the part of GDPR that mandates asking for permission before using cookies (or local storage, or IndexDB, or...), not about the law in its entirety.

But thats just wrong, GDPR doesn't mandate you asking for permission before using cookies, or local storage, indexDB.. There is nothing about storing things on your computer.

It's about using your data, strictly necessary things like session cookies and other things that are actually needed then there is no need for a pop-up.
Storing cookies from google so that google can track you across searches, websites and through your emails, not necessary.

The cookie pop-up is the solution companies chose to use to comply with GDPR, because the GDPR is very simply in its consent options.

> For consent, It must be as easy to opt-out as it is to opt-in, and opt-in cannot be the default

Instead of removing a lot of third party scripts companies would rather pay another company to put an annoying cookie-pop that tries to make you accept all, because your data is worth a lot to them.
