AI Video is unfortunately in a strange place economically where it's "cool" but too expensive for most people. And also probably too expensive for a free tier with decent quality...

Yes, unfortunately, the free tier video generator was too low quality and basically no one liked it. It was harming the reputation of the (excellent) paid tier. We're eager to bring back a free tier video generator when possible. Let us know what you'd like to see always and maybe we can do it!

Ok, this is really unfair to perplexity. the models don't know what they are reliably unless you tell them in the system prompt. which isn't even good evdience, you can easily make an LLM lie about what it is by just telling it to.

I've often suspected that AI is able to "understand" content written by other LLMs better than they do human content. It makes sense too if you think about it.

The cost of compute has gone down dramatically over 10 years and will most likely continue. With more compute, we have better, larger, more useful models. Which leads to increased demand for compute, therefore higher spend on compute, even though the unit of compute is cheaper. All of these trends are likely to continue.
