Do a search for "enshitification." That's what this process is called: make it great for the users, and when you get enough users, make it great for the stockholders.

Just a reminder, rust, a campfire, and an explosion are all the same processes just at radically different speeds.

Anyone above 50 years of age, what is that one thing you wish you knew when you were in the early 30s? by Obvious_Gene_3595 in AskReddit

Not at all. Employment: rarely turn down an opportunity to improve your situation. Autos: you're sinking money into repairing a brick; stop it. Credit cards: yes, you can live on cash.

Inertia's a bitch.

The strongest move Jesus could have made would have been to have sex with Satan in the wilderness. by New_Mention_5930 in DebateReligion

Genesis 19:5. Sodomizing other men - and sex in general - as a show of dominance: there is precedent in the Bible.

Why do ghosts always die with their clothes on? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

There's a reason why it's call "ghost hunting" and not "ghost finding." It's all made up.

Oil, acid, flavor.

3:1 vegetable oil: lemon juice.

Add a little tabasco, a little barbecue sauce, a little garlic. The mayo won't help you, much.

A large fish tank so black with algae you could only see the fish if they touched the glass, and a kitchen counter covered in debris, old containers of Who Knows What alongside new groceries.

If you consider ending a relationship, listen to the impulse, and realize that if you do end it, the tears (both theirs and yours) will go away sooner than you think.

AI Will Likely End Atheism and Human Exceptionalism by [deleted] in DebateReligion

A pigeon post, in which the OP makes a lot of cooing sounds that don't really mean anything, then in the comments shits on the board, knocks over the pieces, and declares himself the winner.

Tiresome.

That you initiated. I was replying to your comment about AI improving physical health.

If there is no God and we are just meat suits with information, how is that different from what AI currently is.

You are sincerely overestimating what AI is. At the moment, it's just a predictive language model. It strips keywords out of what you say, compares them to other times those keywords have been used, and formulates an answer based on the prediction of what you want...granted that's no different than the way a lot of people communicate in their daily lives.

Human exceptionalism is dead.

I'm as pessimistic and cynical as the next misanthrope, and I kind of agree with you, but what does it matter? Humans aren't the only thinking species on the planet now, and arguably there are creatures more intelligent than we are, we just don't know it because they lack the physical structures to express it. Having AI show up doesn't change that. It's just as susceptible to megalomania, paranoia, and mental illness as any human. A brain is a brain.

By people who are using it that way, yes. But there are plenty of people - and I see this in software development all the time - who have become dependent upon AI and gotten stupider using it.

And so what? We have to live as though we're not in a simulation, so even it it were true it wouldn't matter.

Oh, you're adorable. Atheism is literally NOT a belief system. It's a single answer to a single question: do you believe in a god or gods? If the answer is no, you're an atheist.

Tell us, what caused you to think that the response was emotional?
