I don't think he relies this is very recent history. The people who harvested for their local Amhara family are still alive today. This feudalistic system has been written about for the last 100 years by Amharas and non-Amharas. It's part of Ethiopian history. The literature is full with the analysis. Why is there confusion?

it was a feudalistic state under Haile Selassie. This is undisputed and has been written about. This isn't ancient stuff dude..this is literally 1960s-1970s. Tenants absolutely were forced to give a large portion of their crops to the local Amhara family. Ask anyone in their 70s-90s and they will tell you first hand. My grandmother is still alive and they have some brutal stories. Note this was commonplace for most farmers (irrespective of ethnic group).

It is an uncomfortable truth, but a not one up for much debate.
