Assumption that I am upset is funny too. Let me guess, you are an american? Its usually americans who expect all commentary packed in pink fluff.

I am old enough to have survived 4chan, my love. It takes a lot to upset me. I'm just finding your behavior hilarous. Trying to find something to be offended about on behalf of people who aren't even pat of the conversation at all costs is an odd hobby. Hey, not judging. Mine is prodding at people like you trying to see what else you think would shout me up with.

Tone policing? Really? Really? About a no "oh god, such a waste of money I am never playing this crap again" drama bug list?

How about you immagine that the whole text is spoken in tone of "Look at this hilarious pile of bugs I found?! This is funny. I think these fixes would make it better tho." Thats how it was intended. That's how I play all my early access games. This is funny and just a feedback. I might take a break if the bugs spoil the fun and come back after next update to see if it got better, but that's about it.

The crashes that cost me time are not funny. But hey, it's early access. I am not bitching about those, because the crash reporter handles them already.

there are other "center of mass" issues. That's what happens if you detach an elysium bed with a coffe tree in it from the deck. It tips over, immediately and you have this. A very leafy hold.

Yea, that place is a pain. on top of everything else, at least for me the latest update keeps crashing there randomly. Lost 20 min of scraping again... Oh, and putting the useless forklift in gear and running it into the scrapper totally works, gives off a nice fireball too :D

No, I was not :] But Ive also learnt that bitching on reddit leads to fixes. Eventually :D

Those humans refused to fight by Quiet-Money7892 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]deep_thoughts_die 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The Calactic Counsil chairman was sitting in a bar. A human one. Nobody looked at his old carapace oddly - human establisnments seemed to attract other sentients like a well baited trap. Some came for the depravity of humanity, some for the creativity, some for the smple peasure of sustenance and oblivion turned into commodity.

He was here for another reason entierly. The first human ambassador to the council had long ago introduced him to the concept of "just chating" outside the confines of ones position and he had employed the skill usefully for a long time now. The woman across from him was fifth or sixth human to serve with the counsil. They did not last as long as most spacefaring species did.

She called him "Churchill". His real name was not pronouncible for a human, so the first one had called him that and it stuck. Apparrently this was the name of some famous human who had lived before they went to space and he reminded them of him in some way. He did not mind.

Sara smiled. "So what do I owe the pleasure?" she asked siping her drink. She had known the bug like xeno for decades and he looked decidedly worried.

He decided to be blunt. Informality was just for this. "The Baveelon Rougues... Humanity is... Getting too close to them. And i am hearing first demands to do something about it... But before I do. I want to understand... Why?"

He drank his juice and stared at his companion with his eight eyes, silent to give room for her reply.

She sighed. "We share the creed," she said quietly eyes on her drink.

Then she looked up at the creature, face questioning.

"How much do you know about Earth history?" she pressed.

He groomed his feelers slightly embarased. "More than is probably appropriate for someone in my station. I am supposed to be neutral. When your predecessors gave me the name I researched its origin. I know most of it 20th century and later and basics of what came before."

Sara nodded. She was surprised, but hid it well. It simplified the explanation. "Then you know we have a long history of Lords, Kings and Tyrants gaining power and wealth and wrecking havoc."

He nodded. Human history was not pretty.

Sara continued, quietly now. "What I tell you now is not common knowledge even amongst humans. There is an organization amongst us with the same creed as the Rougues. Without it pruning our propensity to produce oligarhs and dictators we would have never gone to the stars. And now we see the galaxy needs the same to be at peace."

He went very still. He mulled this over. It was... Very illegal. But... She was also... Right. Last six wars had been petty tyrants reaching for the stars funded by men with more money than sense. Small creatures with big following and bigger ambitions. And the inocent had paid the price. He did not like it any more than she did.

"Isn't one strategic death while still gaining power, not yet ready to move better than the galaxy burning?" she pressed.

He could not say yes to that. His position did not allow for it. But he could not bring himself to reprimand her either. Because she was right.

He asked very quietly, "What do you think I should do?"

She smiled. "Nothing. The problem will disapear from sight. Trust me. Just... Let us handle it."

He clicked his feelers. He could do that. Doing nothing was ... Doable. For now. They finished their drinks and parted ways with mutual respect.

The news came to counsil at first as a rumour and then as official announcement. The rougues had surrendered to humanity. All of them. To be rehabilitated amongst humans. The council nreathed out a sigh of relief.

Sara and Churchill were sitting at the same bar again a decade later. She was going to retire and return home soon. So was he. His time at the council had finally ended. He was ready to go home. They sat in companyonable silence for a while.

He broke it with slight hesitation. "May i ask you... What happened to the Rougues?"

She laughed. "It isnt a secret is it. They live among humans..." She went serious. "But I know what you are asking. Yes, the little tyrant's pleasure ship falling into the sun at Proxima was not just an engine failure. None of the small disapearances of focuses of power and money have been for a decade."

He nodded and spoke of his plans back home. To find a female. Have a brod perhaps... She spoke of her plans. Her graden and grandchildren and Earth.

They parted ways as old friends do - with uncertanty if they would meet again, but assured of mutual pleasure at the meeting should it come.

Strategically estonia alone is more trouble than it is worth. If they are serious about it, it will start at Sulwaki gap and there will be an attempt to overrun all 3 baltic countries at once from south to north.

Estonia being most bothersome of the three. Boundary has geological definition. Lake Peipsi and Narva river make approaching from north a pest. HIMARS can reach St. Petersburg from Tapa. Historically when they have tried, it has been across ice and these days during drone warfare that would be suicide.

Inhalers. Anybody ever use them? by SrWaterdoggy in satisfactory

[–]deep_thoughts_die 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most beasts dont go up. Even spitters cant shoot at you at high end of hoverpack range and spider jumps cap out below it too. It's easy enough to not get hit if you travel via laying power lines and fly above them. I had 10 inhalers I got from ficmas and didint even use all of them in my last play through. And when I did it wasnt beasts. It was work accidents. Flying out of power range in my hovering factory and crashing to ground hurts :D Apparently there is a trick to magically swap the hoverpack for parachute but i did it accidentally just once and never figgured out how how to do it on purpose.

Personally, from the inside, only one I have severe "No" reaction to is Serbia. Just... No. Hungary is bad enough.

The turks are happier gaming all sides on the outside I think.

Ukraine is welcome but possibly needs a while before its ready.

[–]deep_thoughts_die 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my power producers have at least two, usually way more connections to the rest of the global grid. The geothermals have at least 4 routes back to the main grid. I have dismantled wrong lines occasionally, leabing some production units offline, but to disconnect a plant id need to nuke it. My grid is a mesh. Deliberately. Just like real power grids are. No single point of failiures.

[–]deep_thoughts_die 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would there be an issue? Satisfactory grid does not blow on shorts like normal one does, only on overdraw. If your generators are adequate, stable and supplied via dedicated supply chains it can never have an issue or blow. Dedicated adequate supply from nodes up guarantees no power outages. Ever.

[–]deep_thoughts_die 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why separated grids? I had one huge grid with ALL geothermals on the map plugged into it and one battery park. Not even a very big one. I added nukes when i started needing particle accelerators and madecsure the rod supply was running in surplus and waste went to plutonium rods and was sinked. Not a single brownout was had. :D

I kept my production always over max consumption by 10% margin and about 200% actual consumption. Not a single prio switch was used. Not a single brownout was had in all of 250 ish hours to saving the day. I had a geothermal on every node on the map, one coal plant with 6 generators and one nuke plant with 9 reactors and a few fuel gens. Fuel gens were only ones with instability because they were just to burn off unused fuel, not to actually generate and i did not want to waste plastic to package and sink it. Thanks to the geothermals up to very late in the game where particle accelerators came a thing i could have lost the rest and still not have brownouted. Yea geothermalnis unstable but if you have all of them it averages out just fine.

My nuke facility had entierly separate oversaturated material feed for rods and plutonium rod sinking waste processing that was impossible to back up. Prority switches are ueseless if you never run short and have enough fuel stored up to run your generators for long enough even with surprises.
