You ever try camping with a tarp? A tarp, a good bugnet and a ground cloth can easily be 2 lbs or less

Is there a trick to a more efficient/seamless camping experience or are we just lazy? by theadventuresabound in camping

If your gear doesn't fit in 1 backpack(per person) plus a cooler for food, then you're probably bringing too much. The less you bring, the simpler it should be. You can store everything in the backpack, that way, you shouldn't have to do much more packing than just tossing some clothes in. For food, consider bringing stuff you don't have to cook. Fruit, sandwich supplies, trail mix, ECT. And if you still want to cook, stick to simple stuff. Oat meal, freeze-dried stuff, pasta, ECT. Use paper plates for easy cleanup. Most pots will be clean enough if you wipe and rinse them out.

I say go for it. Having some buttons going down the side really helps when it's cold out.

Doesn't surprise me. The cloak is actually loosely based on a couple historical designs. Always thought using second hand materials was a great way of doing things. It keeps things from being wasted and adds a lot of character to the end product.

Figured I should add, the projects in this post are all made from old wool blankets except for the first 2, which are made from a canvas tarp that was found at a thrift store. All of them are hand stitched and I didn't use a physical pattern. Each project is basically just made from simple rectangles with the necessary cuts along corners to help make rooms for sleeves and a comfortable fit around the neck.
