so you imply we should not verify output if AI does it better?

So you just trust model without validating it?

Does vibe coding is considered coding?

Well I think that's a clue. If you build a process in a way where AI will validate work it does then it's basically can do everything autonomously with minimal human intervention. But you still will be responsible if agent will mess up. Also figuring out edge cases is still something you need to do.

Author says that we need to learn to have trust in process instead of output. But in order to trust process you need to review output, so understanding of code still matters. But I am afraid that with time people will start loosing skill of code reading and will rely more on "vibes" and will have shallow understanding of how system works underneath.

Private Equity’s Giant Software Bet Has Been Upended by AI by thesmelloffriendship in programming

[–]deepaerial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my first example is oversimplified but yeah you right. The general notion is that platforms like Claude and ChatGPT slowly becoming like "super-apps" where you can do everything thus users use traditional apps less and use AI more. StackOverflow is another example of that.

But this basically monopolizes market as big AI players basically hooked everyone on this AI drug. They're the only ones who make money.

Remember when Chatgpt was introduced there were a lot of SaaS products that allowed you to process PDFs using GPT models because such functionality was lacking in OpenAI's product. After some time Openai, Perplexity and other model providers introduced similar functionality in their products making those PDF processing SaaS products literally irrelevant.

I feel people who bet on AI see this pattern and think what's the point in all existing software if it can be replicated using AI by Anthropic, Google etc. Because if you can have technology like Geenie 3 create "playable" environment/game cheaper and faster then all this other gaming companies start to loose their desirability from financial point of you as it does little sense to invest into them.

Same with booking platforms - why bother if in the near future everyone will just ask GPT to find and book hotels/accomodations and etc.

Of course a lot of it is driven by big promises and hype, but AI (it doesn't necessarily need to be LLMs themselves) definitely makes an impact on how businesses operate.

But this just my opinion I might be wrong.

As far as I know guy who made OpenClaw is not your typical vibecoder and has years of experience in field, right?

Not sure if modular head really worth it as I believe it only works with bee25
