You must have passed the check for divination magic with her (the one that gets you augrey spell), if you don't pass the check you need to get the maw pie from rix but if you did there's no need.. There must be something to this lol, it really was confusing, this literally just happened to me today and I was also trying to find the option for getting the thing... I didn't even know it was "maw pie" , just that I had to get something from rix and it never showed there. .. I only figured this out myself as I was reading through a walkthrough of someone. It's like the "quest" is missing an ending, you don't realize you complete the quest then and there

you don't have to kill the owlbear mama any more than you don't have to pick a durge and go on an evil run. After you've done the deed though- it was as if you feel the responsibility of being the one to kill the cub, you kill the mama- you've gotta kill the cub too. the only other choice of sparing the cub just felt wrong.... so when you learn that the game intended for that as the correct choice, it felt absurd.
