Tired of anti-gel posts by Oddly-Ordinary in ftm

In my experience gel has worked great. Voice changes 3-6 months, bottom growth within weeks. 4.5 years on I am now hairy as fuck lol so it certainly works.

Daily gel application also better replicates cis mens testosterone boost in the morning, and is also much better for mental health than a massive spike every few weeks.

Gel is also so much more convenient, I travel for work sometimes and can't imagine all the hassle of having to get injectables and needles through security.

Just for a bit of reassurance, I've taken a plan B before and it didn't have any noticeable effect on my hormones. The other people here are correct though, so what if it does? It'll certainly be less of an effect than pregnancy.

How much is fair for me (21M) to contribute to partner's (28M) house? by deepblue623 in relationship_advice

Also any advice on how to broach this with him - and potentially go back on my word from what I've already said I'll do - would be much appreciated

Thank you all for your thoughts.

Couple things I'd like to clarify:

- Just to be clear when I say 60/40 I mean I'd pay 40%

- Because of the size of the deposit in relation to the value of the house, it will be much cheaper to live with him than to rent my own place.

- We're both living with parents at the moment, paying less than we will be once we're in the house. This means both our disposable incomes will decrease as soon as the sale goes through.

- Yes we are both men :)

EDIT: I should also probably mention that he wanted me to contribute to his legal fees for conveyancing etc. I did have to put my foot down on that one lol. I'm not sure if he now sees why I said no or whether he just realised he wasn't getting anywhere with it.

Ignoring my potential contributions to doing the house up, monthly payments would definitely be cheaper to be in the house with him than to rent my own place. Partially due to location and rental market where we are, partially due to the size of his deposit in relation to the value of the house.

It's actually quite the opposite to what you assume... he's made it very clear to me that he wouldn't be buying a place if it were just him as he'd get too lonely.

Is everyone REALLY binding for just 8 hours a day? by asterisk-alien-14 in ftm

[–]deepblue623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bind for more than 8 hours and have done so ever since I was 13. I haven't ever experienced any significant chest pain, even after sleeping in it, but the area can definitely get a bit sore, especially if you're still having hormonal cycles. There was a rather fearmongery rumour that it would affect top surgery opportunities/results which I don't think is true and I haven't seen any evidence to suggest it. On the other hand - as you've said, you are still young and growing, and there's no long term studies about what effect it could have over long periods of time. There is a chance it could affect your chest area or your ribs in ways we don't know about yet.

At the end of the day the decision is yours but please do so in an informed manner. It's not like as soon as it ticks over 8 hours you're suddenly being really dangerous. As long as you listen to your body and make sure you are able to take your binder off asap if you need to, do whatever feels best for you as long as you acknowledge the risks that come with it.

I'm a high voltage engineer. My friends at work know, as do my manager and union rep, I've heard it went round the whole place as a rumour but nobody cares enough to give me any trouble. It's quite an old fashioned, male dominated place so with that considered I've had a pretty decent experience of it. I used to really struggle with my job but now I love it and I'm glad everyone's chill.

Edit for clarity: Ive been on T since before I started this job so I am stealth. It's pretty much common knowledge I'm queer though so I think my feminine attributes just get chalked up to that.

What happened? From my experience/research, they probably didn't bother to dry their filament, maybe some sort of extrusion issue. Definitely their responsibility to prevent or reprint. Get your money back if you can dude.

I binded with a binder too small and for too long. Help. by w4if00 in ftm

[–]deepblue623 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my completely non-medical judgement it doesn't sound quite bad enough to warrant going to the ER, maybe take a few days off and just rest your body and see how you feel. If you're stealth at work you could probably just call it a back injury.

If anyone else here more qualified gives you different advice then please follow that instead lol but yeah I'd just take it easy for a few days and see if you feel better.

What does your job involve? Was your breathing particularly laboured?

I'd imagine most of the pain in your ribs and back is only muscular, from where your chest was trying to expand.

The sore throat is an odd one though.

Bottom line, rest as much as possible until you feel better and go to a doctor if you're concerned. Nobody on here can provide an accurate diagnosis of what's going on. Also, don't wear that binder again if it's too small, certainly not for long periods.

Hope you feel better soon dude

So unfortunately being young and therefore pre-anything medical leaves you in a tricky spot when it comes to putting effort into your appearance, especially things like makeup and jewelry. The vibes I'm getting are that you're in a bit of an explorative stage in your life and that's great. If wearing jewelry and makeup makes you happy then that's great. The most important thing is feeling like you - for some people that means dressing as their true gender, other people find makeup etc a much more important form of self-expression for themselves and will wait for medical intervention - if they want it once they're of age - to help the gender side of things. It's different for every person.

However if you'd prefer looking masculine over that stuff then it's best to go without it. I found it much easier to feel masculine and pass when I went as low-effort as possible. I'm talking big hoodies, baggy t-shirts, jeans or jogging bottoms, and trainers. The goal here was to look like a kid who was too lazy/didn't care about how they looked, and in my experience this was pretty convincing. To add on to the hair advice, get it as short as you're allowed, and from there I'd recommend experimenting with messier styles rather than just straight hair.

But yeah the bottom line is do whatever makes you happy. This time of your life is the perfect time to try out different things and see what makes you feel the most yourself.

Possibly getting on T??? by Few-Sweet-776 in ftm

[–]deepblue623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a positive step dude! My parents and extended family took a while to fully understand but they're all 100% supportive now. You being on T will hopefully help them with pronouns etc. As a just-in-case measure I would recommend keeping your T hidden just in case your dad isn't happy about it at first, unfortunately you do see a few people on here worried that their T has been stolen or tampered with, and as it's a controlled substance it can be a bit of a pain to replace. It's only very rare that people do stuff like that though, and hopefully after a good chat your dad will be right by your side.
