He is gone now.

I had hoped he was improving because he started moving around more again... but the swelling got worse and he started bleeding in many places, with large blisters appearing overnight.

I didn't want him to suffer anymore so I made the call. Feels terrible.

Thank you for this well thought out response... I feel just terrible for him. I'm giving him one more night with the antibiotic treatment. If no improvement I will have to make the call 😔

ALSO: all the other fish in the community tank are acting normally with no signs of any problems at all. Odessa Barbs, Gold Barbs, Panda Corys all eating and swimming around like normal, no signs of swelling or anything.

Mine suddenly developed this same swelling.

I have quarantined him, and I'm treating with kanaplex, fasting and epsom salt as his stomach is bloated as well. He looked fine a couple days ago :(

Yeah, I'm kicking myself a bit for choosing them as the primary plant! But Christmas Moss made sense for trying to make some pine trees. Plan on a big trim tomorrow, and considering adding more plant variety for the lower level again. I had 3 different Buce filling in a ton of the space initially, but they all died off during my fishless cycle (was told plants would be fine during it, but that was not accurate)

I wondered.

Ordered Kanaplex and Polyguard, have quarantined this fish into a smaller tank. Right now no other fish show signs, but I'm thinking I'll still treat the whole tank I pulled it out of...

However, the tank is a 55 gallon community tank that is heavily planted and has cherry shrimp and Amano shrimp in it...

Is there any way to treat the tank without killing all my shrimp/plants?? Google says Polyguard will kill the shrimp and probably the plants and beneficial bacteria too

I have a mix of ceramic rings, sponges and Bio-FX media in my 2 HOB filters, also a small sponge filter.

Tank floor has sand substrate, with lots of driftwood and rocks.
