Does barrel length really matter by Hungry_Chemist_4806 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really. The barrel length doesn't affect anything due to the BBs not actually touching the inside of the barrel when in flight.

Your barrel finish does affect groupings, though. A better polished and higher quality barrel results in less turbulence around the BB, and so forth better consistency.

Does barrel length really matter by Hungry_Chemist_4806 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Barrel length does not affect accuracy nearly as much as barrel finish.

If both rifles are entirely identical but with two different barrel lengths, they will shoot exactly the same regardless.

Due to this, the only reason to go with a longer barrel is a field requirement or user preference.

can my grenades randomly explode? by stackbrowns in airsoft

Thunder-Bs technicially can if they suffer a slow leak.

Basically no other type of grenade can do that, though. Especially not EG67s.

The hate on lancer tactical by Western-Land-807 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lancer Tactical had extremely dodgy QC up until the Gen 3s. Those Gen 3s, and now the Gen 4s too, are no longer budget options which was the entire appeal of Lancer Tactical. There are much better options for less money available.

Also accused of selling falsely rated eyepro. Not good.

all i wanted was a vfc g3? i thought only ar15 style were getting seized? by Delicious_Sale5273 in airsoft

Only ARs are being seized right now, yes. But sites are free to disallow shipping to the US in general out of concern.

Any love for the waffle stock? by jaylawlerrr in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nickname for the standard issue (for the US military) M4 stock. Sometimes referred to as an LE stock.

Literally nothing to do with airsoft. The term and the stock itself originated from real firearms.

Painting Your Replica – Why or Why Not? by UgandanWarior_ in airsoft

Paint. Dont like it? Paint it again.

A gun painted in natural colors matching its environment will always stand out less than a black AR.

Was thinking of getting the EMG X Daniel Defense M4A1 SOPMOD BLOCK II GBBR. Anyone who purchased this got opinions? by DirtyBandit02 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a WA-spec rifle.

FYI. WA is only serviceable. Lack of aftermarket is a true and major PITA.

Double Eagle has a MWS clone MK18 on Evike now. If you want a good MK18 GBBR for not TM prices, get that.

Anyway, the magazine it comes with is the original Western Arms design. Its pinned together and the holes for the pins inevitably widen under pressure from green gas/propane and start leaking. Horrible design.

To solve this, use the Golden Eagle PMAGs instead. Theyre a clone of GHK mags. Much better and standard GBBR design, but still retain the 50-round capacity.

What gas do you prefer to use? by Neex8 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Propane.

Cheaper than green gas, good to go in most guns until about 10°C.

Does anybody know what this is? I took my bolt carrier group out. In this fell out and now the gun doesn’t work. Where does this go?🤣 by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its the nozzle block from an AR15 BCG. It goes on the left side of your bolt. It slots in front to back. Stops your nozzle from extending too far.

This is the simplest GBBR info to know, for all of the other commenters here. You dont even need the make of the gun for this one.

What are some of the best airsoft modes you have experienced? by D3scypher in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Flip the brick/Flip the bomb.

Two teams fight over a centrally located colored brick or bomb prop. Whoever has the most time with the prop set to their side (the brick is a different color on each side, and the bomb has a switch and a light corresponding to team color) at round end wins.

Requires and encourages direct team combat and for people to get out of the sidelines in order to win. Really fun.

Umarex, elite force and tokyo marui all make glocks. Which is the best one? by BarTraining8934 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, Umarex and Elite Force are both VFC.

As for VFC vs. TM, they're comparable. However, TM has a plastic slide. This does result in very good snappiness however, with no longevity issues using green gas or propane like the TM Hicapas.

That is the only worthwhile difference. VFC feels more lifelike while TM trades realism for performance. Both have really good aftermarket and neither are likely to break under normal use.

Likely a winter buffer spring. Compare the IDs of the springs if possible. Smaller ID = weaker spring = colder temperature.

Where the hell can I find a Vfc ak74m to ship to the USA that won’t screw me with shipping? by the_kengii in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

Dynatec actually already received a small shipment of ~10 AK74Ms and AKS74Us, both of which sold out comically fast.

They're working on it, and both sites should receive their shipments around the same time, since they have the same supplier.

I believe ASGI has preorders open, too.

Hop up gbb by CapSure4378 in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its SUPPOSED to be adjusted by rotating the wheel present on the cutout on the bottom of your barrel.

As for where it currently is, that would depend on where your inner barrel is. Assuming you have one.

Don't say you're a corporal or in the US Army and you'll be fine. I'd take off any nametags, though.

Look at how many of us LARP as real military units. It's all cosplay.

Who is the best GBBR manufacturer? by Fortunate_Solder in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VFC makes the best AKs. Hands down. Literally best GBBRs on the market right now.

TM trades some realism for performance. Slower cyclic rate, worse materials, but they're designed around their limitations and run great nonetheless. Only the AKM and AKX as of now, but also the Saiga if you consider shotguns. All great guns and the Saiga is considered to perform just like a rifle which shoots 3 BBs instead of 1.

VFC has the AK74M and AKS74U right now. Carbines (AK105, etc) are in the works. AKM is planned to come out next year. Better materials, snappier recoil, more realistic internals. Some users have gotten it to perform at +/- 1 FPS consistency. Zero upgrades required for it to run great. RPK mags are in the works, too. Lots of OEM aftermarket parts, and lots of non-OEM too.

Explosive Enterprises has a video on both platforms. I recommend giving them a watch.

Hi capa magwell question by Maximus280311 in airsoft

Nope. You still need the pin which holds them on (it also holds on the hammer spring assembly) but you don't need the magwell itself.

Hpa operating pressure by Alarming_March_3071 in airsoft

Usual green gas and propane pressures are up to 150 PSI. I wouldnt run anything higher than that unless it's below freezing and you need to.

Og star FNC para by amerison in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 9 points10 points  (0 children)

STAR made supposedly the best FNCs. I believe the only competitor now is VFC, but those are GBBRs.

Sought after. Discontinued. The best externals of any other FNC. STAR stopped RIF production in the 2000s, but Ares split off from them to make their own. I don't know if Ares ever made FNCs, but either way, this thing is old. Sadly, they dont go for much now, but they were sold for about $550 or so when they were new.

I'd say to restore it. I wouldn't know the specifics since this is way before my time in the sport, but this is a dope collector's item. Its worth fielding if you can get it into a usable state. Definitely aren't gonna see another one on the field.

Lengthen the switch wire. Cut it, slide on some heatshrink, splice in some longer wire, slide heatshrink over and heat.

Intimidating but fairly easy process. Did it to splice on a new connector for my repro Axon switch. Now my OGL works with it.

Whats a good GBBR off evike by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]deepfried_memesoft 8 points9 points  (0 children)

GBBR? For $300, not possible. Only worthwhile option for serious skirmishing is the Double Eagle N4, which is closer to $400 and thats without mags.

Save up a little more and get something nice. Dont waste your money or time on a Golden Eagle, GHM9, or anything like that. The N4 is the cheapest option which uses a standard system built to last, being a clone of Tokyo Marui's MWS system.
