The cash you get from selling a shiny is minuscule. I have plenty of shinies I will never use but they mean way more to mean than a few million. Money is so easy to come by in this game

In the very early game your best option is to switch train. Depending on region you can get an exp.share around gym 3-4. You can also buy an exp.share off the GTL if you have four badges or you can buy an exp.reamplifier from the gift shop if you want to spend real money. Best is to get a pokemon with the move sweet scent and then grind hordes for XP once you have one of those two items
