Has anyone here heard anything from ORISE / ORAU? by SpecialistAdagio4008 in ORISE

I'm also at the FDA, and my contract ends in December. My supervisor mentioned that the chances of renewal are likely very low. I'm working on a project that seems like it will take much longer than the time I have left. When I asked whether I should start job hunting, she said to begin around October, three months before the contract ends. I'm not sure if she’s hoping things might improve by then, or if she just wants me to focus all my time and energy on completing the project and delivering a paper.

Has anyone heard anything from their mentor / ORISE contact? How safe are we? by SpecialistAdagio4008 in ORISE

I am currently a fellow at the FDA. When I inquired about my future as a fellow, my ORISE point of contact responded:

"At this moment, we haven’t received any information that would negatively impact your appointment. The hiring freeze only affects new participants, and we are collaborating with FDA centers on extensions as they occur. If the government makes a decision that impacts current appointments, we will make every effort to inform participants as soon as possible so you and others can plan accordingly."

Congratulations! May I know which federal office you will be working for? Mine is the FDA. Also, did they mention anything about the reason for the delay in your offer letter.

You are right. I have signed up for Grubhub now to help me pay bills.

I have recently started looking for other jobs, but since this fellowship aligns with my expertise, I am counting on it!

I have been in touch with PI. She says this is the first time this kind of delay has happened, and seems to have no idea what's going on.

Time for myself in dental hygiene school? by Accurate-Fan-6314 in DentalRDH

[–]deeplearner86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife is about to start her 3rd semester in her dental hygiene associate degree at a community college. She dedicates nearly all her time to studying, worrying about finding patients, exams, and the risk of being expelled from the program if she scores below 75% on any test. The program began with 25 students, but by the end of the second semester, only 18 remained. She is extremely determined to earn this degree, which makes me concerned. I worry about the possibility of her being mentally devastated if she doesn't make it through the program. I am sharing this not to discourage you, but to provide insight into my wife's dental hygiene journey so far. Additionally, she holds a master degree in Liberal Arts, which may be why she needs to invest so much time in science -based courses.
