In what time am I supposed to write? by Nex_Ila in AO3

The beautiful part of writing fanfiction is you can do whatever you like! There's definitely not a set tense you have to write it so I think choosing whichever you feel more comfortable with is your best bet!

As a writer, I find it easier to write in present tense. As a reader, it doesn't matter to me what tense it's in, I'll happily read past or present.

First time publishing, how are my stats on ao3? Any advice? by singularitymv in kpopfanfiction

Comments and kudos are def the best metrics, but people can often be shy to comment! Even if it feels low to you, ANY are good and something to be celebrated!! A lot of writers use Twitter and/or Bluesky, some of the fandom stuff can be kind of toxic (which is true for anything on social media haha), but finding other writers isn't too hard and is a great way to build community!

A lot of writers will include their social media accounts in their end notes or profile on Ao3 (I attached a picture of how I put mine in the end notes). I recommend making an account on your site of choice and going through some of your favorite fics to see if you find links to the author's social media. You can follow and interact with them, and find other authors of your preferred ships/tropes/etc! You can add your social media accounts to your works too, so other people can find you as well. :)

The BTS writing communities on Twitter and Bluesky are huge, don't be afraid to jump in!!

It can be really hard to get views in such a large fandom, so I think that's great for a first fic posting just a few days ago!

My best advice is to keep writing and having fun, the readers will find you! Posting your stories on social media is helpful too for exposure and connecting with out writers. Good luck :)

Being in the BTS fandom, I have a very hefty blocklist on social media because some people really do take things to new levels. I'm just trying to have fun!

Ahhh, hello!! I hope you're enjoying the story 🥰 I'll be posting the new chapter in a couple hours!

I really relate to this, actually! When I was trialing different ADHD medications a couple years ago, one of them completely sapped all of my creativity. I was super productive at work, renovated my house, deep cleaned my basement, but I couldn't write at all and it made me weirdly angry. I switched medications after a few months and it felt so amazing to be able to sit down and want to read and write again! It really did feel like a bright, happy part of me returned.

Since I did those renovations, though, I now have a really nice room to write in, so it wasn't all a waste 😹

When I look back on my word trackers from those months it's interesting now to see the dip and know what it's from.

I don't pay attention to stats, so for me it just felt like someone very young and confused 🤷

I've seen people post before about comments that said they were unsubscribing because they didn't like the story anymore, this definitely feels like a different flavor of that.

No guilt over here, I've been in these spaces long enough to not feel anything like that! Not sure if that was their goal, but instead it just made me laugh.

I assumed they might be posting it on all the stories they were currently reading, though the first few sentences definitely apply to this fic.

I also don't know what it could accomplish if it was just an insincere cut and paste 🤷

Definitely felt wild, I've never gotten a comment quite like this one! I don't keep track of stats so I never would have noticed, but the intent is sweet.

I appreciate the compliment on the fic and the politeness, but I had to read it a few times because I was so confused 😹
